Syed Hamid created havoc in KL roadblocks

Thursday, 17 July 2008

We are expressing our grave dissappointment over the action of home minister Datuk Syed Hamid Albar in ordering the police to carried out road blocks which created a massive traffice jam around Kuala Lumpur recently. He reasoned his action is to counter an intended demonstration which were planned by some opposition parties and to curb illegal street rallies which was believed to be rumoured by some elements in the Barisan Nasional itself.

As such, havoc and chaos in KL roads where daily road users were frustrated by their work late ins, delayed deliveries, patients delayed scheduled medication and so on. Some students are also reported to had failed to reach their colleges and schools in time to sit for their exam papers and had to reschedule their papers to some other days.

First of all, why has Syed Hamid had to depend on rumours to start a massive security check on the innocent people of the city ? Why can't he check the facts first prior to his irresponsible actions ?We supposed the government and the police force have the sufficient security intelligence facilities to counter such rumours by having such information checked and validate first prior to their unneccessary response. Why are they not utilising these facilities but put all the blame on the Pakatan Rakyat instead ?
