Establish state level IPCMCs

With the reoccurrence of civilian death in police custody recently, we would not know how many more will happen again in future and the refusal of the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government to commence with the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) bill in the parliament but to only proceed with an ineffective Special Complaints Commission (SCC) bill instead, we want to repeat our urge to the Pakatan Rakyat led state governments in Penang, Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan to establish the state level IPCMCs in their respective states.

We are very certain that, in the states’ constitution that governs the state administrative structure and the legislative proceedings, these state governments are entitle to establish a commission to investigate, service and to serve the public interest. We call it a state service commission. If the respective state governments can review their powers as mentioned in their state constitutions, we believe that the formation of the state level IPCMC could be carried out soonest without any interference or any judicial review.

If in event such measures contravenes with the federal constitution because the police force are under the federal jurisdiction, then the respective state legal panels should sit down and review an alternative approach like, forming a smaller entity called the State Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Committee (State IPCMC) or a State Legislative Committee on Police Watch and so on. There are numerous more approach and alternatives instead of merely instituting the IPCMC.

The State IPCMCs if materialize, should include appointees from the public, community leaders, non-governmental organizations, consumer associations, business leaders, state assemblymen and members of parliament. Besides, prominent persons with proven track records in public administration and all parts of communities should also be included in this organization in order to demonstrate its transparency and competency with the people and the general public entirely.

Therfore, we would like to urge the Pakatan Rakyat states to initiate the formation of the State IPCMCs first as soon as possible. The parliament is still dominated by the BN members, and there’s no way we could insist for the actual IPCMC bill to the end, unless there are BN MPs who are willing to lend their support to Pakatan Rakyat MPs. The problem is, will the BN whip ever allow this to happen?

Investigate Elements of Corruptions

We would like the parliament and the newly formed entity Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to take a deep dive and investigate elements of corruptions which may arise in the development of houses and condominiums on the hillside and hill tops.

This is because, we knew the laws and regulations guiding such constructions and projects, plus the enforcements and checks are all available. We cannot understand why are all these laws, regulations, guidelines and enforcements are not adhere to first of all? Why are the authorities start to finger pointing at each other now only after death had happened?

Those should be investigated include the Housing & Local Government Ministry, the local authorities, environmental department, geological department, public works department and other relevant agencies concerned.

Where are the Competency, Accountability and Transparency for all these proceedings? Haven't we learned from the Highland Towers tragedies?

Anwar’s victory with an increased majority

PKR advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim won the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat yesterday which marks his return to parliament after a forced absence of about ten years.In the yesterday’s by-election, Anwar garnered 31,195 votes defeating his opponents, Arif Shah of BN who got 15,524 votes and Hanafi Hamat of AKIM got only 92 votes.

Anwar also won with an increased majority of 15671 votes, while his wife and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had previously won the seat with a majority of 13,338 votes during the 8 March general elections.The significant victory by the Pakatan Rakyat in Permatang Pauh also confirmed that the voices of change are still strong and the people wanted Pakatan Rakyat to continue their role in the parliament as well as in the Penang state.

Meanwhile, DAP Secretary-General and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the win was a huge victory for the whole nation and an impetus for the Penang state government.Guan Eng also said that the victory shows that the people wanted the process of transformation to a new Malaysia to continue under Pakatan Rakyat’s guidance.

Enough is Enough : BN-Umno Told

That's it ! Enough is enough of BN-Umno political foulplays around and shootings at opposition leaders to curb their rising influence in the public.Doesn't BN-Umno had the common sense to realise that the recent general elections on 8 March had spoken the clear messages ?

The BN-Umno stooges are still thinking that they are as powerful as they were before 8 March. They are still clinging to believe that their loss were merely a bad dream.The BN-Umno government is intensifying their efforts to curb the current situation by quietly using the law and the courts to purge the opposition leaders and their rising influence by discrediting them with number of scandals, sexual misconduct, sodomy or maybe even rapes. Are these democracy ?Besides, the opposition voice in the parliament were also controlled and curb eventhough the Pakatan Rakyat had achieved a significant numbers of MPs in their roll. The old parliamentary administration and regulations had made the Dewan speaker too powerful to the extend that he could move in to block any emergency or urgent motion in the name of the rules ? What rules are they talking about when our people were suffering, unemployed, hungry and depress out there.

The BN-Umno and their coalition parties are merely doing things that were benefiting their pockets, families, cronies and associates. What they care about the people. None but only keep on talking about developments, super corridors and so on which only encourage, intensify and advancing corrupt practices amongst them. The rich became richer and the poor became poorer. More and more of our valuable citizens and professionals are begining to move away from Malaysia fearing the unstable situation which may not favour their children in near future, migrating to better nations which could offer them a more secure life, jobs and businesses.

This is what BN-Umno and their coalition parties wanted to in order to smoothly control the population. We must outdo the BN-Umno and their stooges fast before their ruin the entire nation bring the whole country under their feet.
