BN government ban political ceramah in Perak

The move by the BN federal government to instruct the police force via its home affairs ministry to ban all political ceramahs in Perak is seen as a measure by Umno to curb the increasing popularity of the Pakatan Rakyat amongst the people.

Besides, the move is also aimed to strengthen its grip in Perak following Umno's coup d'etat that toppled the Pakatan Rakyat state government recently and to prevent the opposition alliance from organising roadshows in the state to explain to the people on the actual political situation.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan says the ban will last until the situation in the state returns back to normal.

The ban on ceramahs in the state is also seen as one of Umno measures to curb the election campaigns expected to be fully mobilised by Pakatan Rakyat for the upcoming by-elections in Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat.
