Taking A Break

I hope this will not be a disappointment to you all as I am informing you of my wish to take a break now after years of blogging in Malaysia's political arena.

I will be taking up a project start-up work in another country as the company I am working now is expanding to the other continent and they are doing greatly well.

However, not to disappoint you all, I would recommend you to go the blog of my friend, who also sits in the committee of our jointly managed Political Research Group (PRG). His name is Viktor Wong, who is also a socio-political analyst like me, and his full time profession is in the logistics.

Here comes his blog: Socio-Economy, Political and Education as he named it. Besides having his blog, Viktor Wong also manages and edits the DAP Bagan site regularly where is also the Editor-in-Chief.

Trust me, just ride into these two blogs and you would find it as interesting as mine.

Of Chua Soi Lek and his "stronghold" in Tenang

As the nomination of the Tenang by-election had just concluded, MCA and its party president Dr Chua Soi Lek fired their first salvo against the Pakatan's PAS candidate Normala Sudirman for her gloved hand shaking during her campaign rounds.

Well, BN has two kinds of campaign in the Tenang by-election. Umno is dispatched to most Malay kampungs telling the folks there that if PAS wins the by-election, it is DAP and the Chinese would be the most powerful influence over the constituency and PAS would only be a puppet, while MCA is dispatched into Chinese and urban areas telling the community on the fear of a possible Islamic state and the Taliban agenda should PAS were to win in this by-election.

Well, let us focus on Dr Chua's words - he told the press of the PAS candidate's "extremist" view because she wore gloves when shaking hands with the voters. Isn't that is her right of her religious practices and views? Does that represent any intention of PAS wanting to impose the Islamic state ruling in the Tenang constituency should the said Pakatan component party win?

Yeah, he just said that in the Chinese and urban areas during his campaign rounds. That is just one of the BN's split agenda. Umno with its own, while MCA with its own, just like we mentioned earlier.

So, what about Dr Chua's previous sexual fantasies? That is a moral issue too! If he said Normala shoke her hands in public in gloves, how is Dr Chua going to explain the showing of his "kuku bird" in public during his tenure as minister of health?

Come on, this is about election, and let us talk about achievements and getting results, as well as putting things to order. Why go after other people's personality.

We supposed BN has nothing else to say anymore in the campaign. It is just "development" and race, religion and "raja", while corruptions and mismanagements get the go ahead. It is all just BN is always "good" and "true" while what Pakatan Rakyat is doing are all lies and false.

We hope voters there would vote wisely in the upcoming by-election.

Nizar: Pakatan risks Malay support in state secretary dispute

Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin has warned that the Selangor government was in danger of losing popularity among the Malays and being accused of treason for disputing the appointment of a new state secretary.
The ousted Perak mentri besar said Umno leaders might accuse Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim of undermining the Sultan’s role by opposing the appointment Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi as the state’s top civil servant, which has received royal assent.

“Because [of] their control of the press, they will use this issue to accuse Khalid of committing treason against the Sultan like what happened to me in Perak. For the Malays this is very serious,” Nizar told The Malaysian Insider in a reference to Umno, which supported Khusrin’s appointment.

“That is why they keep saying the Sultan has consented to the appointment,” he added.

Nizar lost the post of mentri besar almost two years ago after the Perak ruler refused to dissolve the state assembly following the defection of three Perak Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers. He was then accused of being a traitor after he insisted on calling for a fresh election.

The PAS central committee member also said despite strengthening PR’s traditional support base in urban Selangor, Khusrin’s presence in the administration would hamper the state’s efforts.

“This will strengthen Pakatan’s traditional support, but when Khusrin assumes office the government will be distracted. It is difficult for Khalid,” said Nizar.

“Khusrin is seen as the best candidate to challenge [the] MB and launch acts of insubordination,” he added pointing out that Khusrin, as the Selangor Islamic affairs department head, had on several occasions spoke out against the state government.

The country’s richest state has been in turmoil since Khusrin was handed the post after receiving the consent of the Sultan of Selangor.

The state government has maintained that it has not finalised a candidate list, saying Khalid has not been informed officially of the appointment.

Khalid had also formed a committee headed by Selangor Assembly Speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim, which shortlisted three names that were submitted to the palace.

Palace officials, however, have maintained the mentri besar was “late” in forwarding his candidate choices, with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s aide Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani saying that Khalid had sent in three shortlisted candidates on December 7, after the Ruler had already agreed to the federal government’s pick.

A swearing in ceremony before Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has also been scheduled for January 6 and is expected to be boycotted by PR lawmakers.

Nizar had claimed that the appointment of Mohd Khusrin was part of an attempt by the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration that controls Putrajaya to stage a coup in Selangor similar to what was done in Perak in February 2009.

Nizar has now advised the Selangor government to prepare for a prolonged crisis and to explain to the public the decision to reject Mohd Khusrin’s appointment.

“As the mentri besar, he has the power to stop Khusrin from entering his office. The best thing to do is to make Khusrin miserable,” said Nizar.

“There will be further turmoil, the crisis will continue, but at least the people can be made aware of the constitution,” he added.

Nizar said that the Khalid administration would win public sympathy if it handles the issue well.

“Previously nobody knew about the Perak Constitution, but now everybody remembers it,” said Nizar relating his experience after his removal from the state government.

He also predicted that the issue would not end in Khalid’s favour, as could be seen in Perak when he tried to get the State Secretary Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Hashim replaced.

“I tried twice, I approached the Sultan, I met Tan Sri Sidek Hassan twice to get replacement but the KSN did not bother,” said Nizar.

Portal publishes photo of victim of alleged rape by 'senior minister'

An online news portal focussing on East Malaysian politics has published a photo it claimed was Robengah, an Indonesian women said to be a victim of rape by a 'senior minister', as revealed by WikiLeaks and several blogs recently.

Sabahkini.net also named the minister, a staunch critic of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who made a cabinet comeback during the premiership of Abdullah Badawi, and who is still serving in the current cabinet.

Accompanied with a statement by non-governmental organisation Migrant Care, which had earlier claimed that a cabinet minister was let off despite allegation of rape by his maid, the website quoted a Sabah PKR leader urging the minister’s resignation.

Since the news about the hitherto unnamed cabinet minister's rape case was first exposed through WikiLeaks, it has been making waves on the internet, with users posting comments on blogs and microblogging site Twitter

UMNO leader wants action

When queried by one Twitter user, UMNO Youth's new media chief Tun Faisal urged action to be taken against the minister.

Meanwhile, a prominent blogger Ahirudin Attan or 'Rocky Bru', who is also editor-in-chief of free daily paper The Malay Mail, made a sarcastic comparison by highlighting the news report about an Israelil minister found guilty for raping his assistant.

“We cannot let the people accuse our leaders of committing crime without investigation. But because we did not investigate and the case was closed, now it looks as if we are trying to blind the people,” he wrote.

The scandal immediately shot to become one of the most read stories in Harakahdaily. The incident allegedly took place in 2007, when Abdullah Badawi was the prime minister.

Meanwhile, Alex Ong, Migrant Care's coordinator, told Harakahdaily that his group had done a thorough investigation into the complaints in July 2008.

On August 1, 2007, Alex together with two leaders from Migrant Care issued a press statement calling for action. On December 27, local rights group Tenaganita republished the statement in the hope that the authorities will re-open the case following the WikiLeaks expose - Harakahdaily.

Who is Najib kidding with minimal impact price hikes?

When one is earning RM3,000 a month, with no extra mouths to feed and cloth, single and live at home with parents with no housing and car loans to cover, a 20 sen increase in your favourite 'teh tarik' or Milo is quite insignificant.

Now substitute this with a 'real life scenario' of 'married with kids' to feed and cloth, insurance, car, housing and credit card loans to cover, you'll feel the pinch.

This is the type of scenario that DAP is spewing about.

The average household income in Malaysia in 2007 was slightly over RM3,500 a month. The take-home pay after mandatory deductions in such a scenario would in all probability be about RM3,100.

Now minus a car, housing and creditcard loan, this individual is poor by urban standards and a 55% hike in a consumer item will definetly hurt the household budget!

Which incidently is exactly what has happened since January 2010, according to DAP's national publicity chief Tony Pua.

The cost of white sugar, which is a core consumer item on every household list, has gone up 55%.

In July, the government launched a surprise “5-in-1” price hike programme, raising the prices of RON95 and RON97 petrol, diesel, white sugar and liquified petroluem gas (LPG) including cooking gas cyclinders as much as 15.2%.

"Then on Dec 3, 2010, less than 5 months later, they had another series of hikes.

"This time the price of RON95 went up five sen to RM1.90 per litre, diesel by five sen per litre to RM1.80 and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by five sen to RM1.90 per kg. Sugar was now RM2.10 per kg.

"In fact for white sugar, inclusive of a 20 sen hike in January on top of the 25 sen and 20 sen hike in July and December, prices have increased by more than 55% this year alone," said Pua.

Failed maths

He said the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Coffee Shop Association's recent announcement debunked Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak's claim in July that the price increases will have “minimal impact” on households in Malaysia.

The association had announced a proposed 20 sen increase in beverage prices.

"In July, Pemandu said the new teh tarik price, having taken into impact the subsidy reduction of fuel and upward price adjustment would be around RM1.0155. They advertised this in full page advertisements across all major mainstream newspapers.

"But in reality the 'teh tarik' and 'kopi susu' price was RM1.20. Now with the 20 cent increase these beverages will go up even higher," he said.

According to Pua something is seriously wrong with the method used in calculating matters involving our economy and our leadership's understanding of simple arithmetics.

"Someone in Pemandu has failed their mathematics. Firstly, there is a clear contradiction in “teh tarik” prices between the fact sheet issued in July which was only RM1.00 as compared to the new base price of RM1.20 in the December fact sheet.

"The government must explain the “mysterious” 20% increase in the base price between July and December, " he said.

He also accused Barisan Nasional and Pemandu of "living in a parallel imaginary universe" of price hikes involving increases of 1.55 sen or even 1 sen.

"I had issued a statement in July arguing that Pemandu should be “commended” for the audacity to publish such numbers which are at best applicable only in a fictitious and theoretical universe, and at worse, showing the complete lack of understanding of real world market dynamics on the price of goods and services.

"And to prove my point, it was reported yesterday in all major Chinese newspapers that the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Coffee Shop Association has announced the proposal to increase all beverage prices by 20 sen starting Jan 1, 2011.

"Kopi susu and the milk prices will be increased from RM1.20 to RM1.40 translating to a massive 16.7% increase in prices!" said Pua.

Stop spewing hypothetics

He said even the price of everyone's coffeeshop favourite “herbal tea” will be increased from RM1.10 to RM1.30 which is an 18% price hike.

"And Pemandu has the audacity to claim that “herbal tea” prices will only increase from RM1.00 to RM1.012 or just a 1.2% increase

"In fact, out of the 70 everyday food and drink items listed on the Subsidy Rationalisation fact sheet, no item is expected to increase by more than 1.9% after the most recent round of price hikes!

"What is perhaps most embarrassing is for the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Tan Lian Hoe to argue that a 10 sen increase in beverage prices “will be more reasonable”.

"A 10 sen increase will still result in a 8.3% increase for the price of “teh tarik” and “kopi susu”, 10 times higher than the 0.83% increase claimed by Pemandu.

"The government should stop spewing these ridiculous and out-of-these-world hypothetical data which demonstrate at best its sheer incompetence and irrelevance," Pua said - FMT.

Kit Siang: Muhyiddin's statement over 1Malaysia logo ban 'ridiculous'

DAP national advisor Lim Kit Siang said Friday it was "downright ridiculous" for Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to assert that the Selangor state government's move to ban the 1Malaysia logo was due to its fear over the concept.

The Ipoh Timur MP also urged the Selangor state executive council to review its decision to ban the 1Malaysia logo from advertisement billboards, in order to prove that Muhyiddin was wrong in his claims that the Opposition is afraid of the concept created by Najib's administration.

It was reported Wednesday that the Selangor state government has banned advertisements on billboards that feature the 1Malaysia logo, which it claimed was a Barisan Nasional (BN) political symbol and therefore, contravenes local by-laws using political symbols in billboard advertisements.

Muhyiddin had responded to the 1Malaysia logo ban which was made known by Selangor exco member Ronnie Liu, saying that: "“They (Selangor government) are afraid of the 1Malaysia logo which has become iconic to the people. The 1Malaysia vision has noble intentions, one of which is to unite the people regardless of their political leanings.”

However, Lim said in his statement Friday that: "Muhyiddin’s statement is downright ridiculous as he himself has declared that he does not fully endorse the 1Malaysia concept, whose official objective is the creation of a Malaysian nation where every Malaysian perceives himself or herself as Malaysian first and race, religion, geography and socio-economic grouping second."

He pointed out that in March this year, Muhyiddin had declared himself "Malay first and Malaysian second" when Lim challenged all Ministers in Parliament to demonstrate their commitment to the 1Malaysia concept by identifying themselves as Malaysian first and race, religion or region second.

Lim also cited other examples which he claimed Muhyiddin had spoken totally inimical to the 1Malaysia concept, including the DPM's defensive stance over the National Civic Bureau (BTN) which has been criticized for being racist.

Lim also said: "His (Muhyiddin's) attempt to mitigate the Nasir Safar outrage claiming that it could have been 'a slip of the tongue' when Najib’s senior political aide labelled Indians and Chinese in Malaysia as 'pendatang', alleging that the Chinese came as beggars and the Chinese women as 'prostitutes.'"

"His (Muhyiddin) hamfisted attempt to aid and abet the inflammatory and incendiary campaign by Umno-controlled media like Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, government television and radio stations, playing the race and religious cards to viciously and falsely paint Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and Pakatan Rakyat Penang State Government as “anti-Malay” and “anti-Islam,” he added.

"This is why Muhyiddin’s claim that Pakatan Rakyat is “running scared” of the 1Malaysia concept is so ridiculous, when the concept does not even get his full support," Lim said.

Saying that the number of "reckless rhetoric of racist extremism and religious bigotry which attack the very basis of the 1Malaysia slogan" has increased recently, Lim said the concept itself was an example of Najib's administration failure to "walk the talk".

"The 1Malaysia slogan is in fact the best example of the wide and increasing gulf between words and deeds of the Najib administration – its utter failure to walk the talk of the Najib signature policies whether 1Malaysia, Government Transformation Programme, New Economic Model or Economic Transformation Programme," the DAP veteran said - MM.

'Instant reforms' pledge riles up BN leaders

Pakatan Rakyat’s pledge for instant reforms in the event it comes to power at the Federal level has generated a litany of responses from Barisan Nasional leaders, most of whom dismissed the list of reforms as unrealistic.

Both prime minister Najib Razak and his deputy Muhiyiddin Yassin had come out separately with statements deriding the pledge which was outlined during PR's convention last Sunday.

Najib was quoted as saying that PR’s statements were unrealistic and made without any consideration of their ability to govern.

Muhyiddin on the other hand suggested a PR-led government would squander the nation's wealth.

“Pakatan can promise the sun, moon, stars and mountains... But that is not the way of the BN government. We cannot squander our nation's wealth.

“For BN, the prime minister has already a long road map for a high-income nation. But Pakatan only has plans for their first 100 days. They have absolutely no plans to reform the economy or anything," said Muhyiddin.

The remarks about 'wastage' surprised PAS information chief Idris Ahmad (left).

“It is ironic that UMNO-BN leaders accuse us of squandering wealth,” he told in a statement to Harakahdaily, and referred to the controversial multi-billion project announced by Najib during the last budget for a 100-storey tower.

Idris added the comments from BN leaders "smacked of hypocrisy" in view of their past actions, saying they considered projects beneficial to people as wastage.

“All the projects which are beneficial to the people are considered wastage like the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor state government's policy of giving 20 cubic metresof free water to the people.

"When Najib Tun Razak wants to build the 100 storey Menara Warisan tower, it is not considered wasteful. For the children and cronies, it is not a waste,” said Idris.

Ten instant reforms

Idris also took to task deputy Education minister Mohd Puad Zarkashi for saying that the instant reforms promise was "a political drama" to cover up PR's failure.

"Did not BN leaders promised the people on November 3, 2010 that there would be no more increase in oil price, at least until year end, but on December 3, the price of RON95 went up by 5 sen?” he asked.

He said in contrast, PR states, in spite of their financial limitation, were trying to fulfill their manifesto.

Last weekend, Pakatan Rakyat parties dished out what is known as instant reforms which would be implemented in the first 100 days after winning the general election.

They include:
1. Restructure of institutions including the Elections Commission (EC), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Royal Malaysian Police.
2. Repeal of the Internal Security Act (ISA)
3. Take over of tolled highway so that tolls can be abolished
4. Restructure of the country’s subsidies, including transferring gas subsidies to private power producers to the public at large
5. Revamp the salary scale of civil servants and increasing teachers' salary by RM500 a month
6. Transferring private water concessions to the government
7. Free wireless Internet access to those in urban and semi-urban areas
8. Cancelling Felda plantations and opening up its farms to second- and third generation Felda settlers
9. Increasing oil royalty payments to Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan from 5 percent to 20 per cent, and
10. Formation of a Royal Commission to solve the problem of illegal immigrants and citizenship issues in Sabah and Sarawak.

PKR likely unscathed in polls turmoil, survey shows

The media spotlight on PKR’s fractious party election appears to have had little effect on public opinion, according to the latest poll of voters in peninsular Malaysia.
The results of the poll suggests that Malaysians are undecided if media reports accurately reflected the party’s woes.

Thirty-four per cent of those surveyed by the independent Merdeka Center earlier this month believed unfavourable reports were a true reflection of the opposition party’s troubles.

But another 34 per cent of voters surveyed said the reports were exaggerated. The remaining 32 per cent said they were not sure.

Malays were the most evenly split, with 37 per cent believing the reports accurate compared to 36 per cent who said news of PKR’s “internal conflicts” had been played up.

Indians were more likely to believe the reports overemphasised the party’s problems.

Fourty-six per cent of the Indians surveyed said the reports were exaggerations versus 32 per cent who thought otherwise.

In contrast, the Chinese were the least likely to believe stories of PKR’s woes were being sensationalised.

Only 26 per cent said they thought the stories overblown, while 31 per cent said the stories were accurate.

The Chinese, however, were also the most ambivalent, with 43 per cent unsure if the reports were truthful or not.

The poll was conducted in the first two weeks of this month following PKR’s first ever direct election, which was marred by low voter turnout, allegations of fraud and the acrimonious exit of then-Federal Territories PKR chief Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Deputy presidential contender Zaid quit PKR claiming the party had failed to uphold democratic principles.

This month’s poll mirrors the results of a mid-term survey on Pakatan Rakyat (PR) performance in Selangor, where PKR controls nine out of 22 parliamentary seats, the most of any party.

The mid-term survey suggested that PR will be able to defend Selangor in the next general election.

The PR government there scored the highest with the Indian community, followed by Malays and then the Chinese.

Selangor Mentri Besar and former Selangor PKR chief Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, however, scored the lowest among Malays, with 38 per cent saying they were not confident in his leadership, compared to 14 and 17 per cent of the Chinese and Indians, respectively.

Most Malaysians against 100-storey project

The majority of voters in peninsular Malaysia are against the proposed construction of the 100-storey Warisan Merdeka project, a recent survey by the independent Merdeka Center has revealed.
The survey, conducted between November 30 and December 11, found that 65 per cent of those polled disagreed with the construction of what would be the tallest building in the country.

Opposition to the project was uniform across all three major communities.

Sixty per cent of Malay voters polled disagreed with the project while 76 per cent of Chinese opposed its construction. Among Indians, 58 per cent were against it.

The findings suggest that a recent online protest on the Facebook social networking site was a fair reflection of public opposition to the project.

More than 200,000 Malaysians registered their protest on Facebook in a campaign launched soon after the project was announced a few months ago.

Last month, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad warned of a property glut that would result from the construction of the proposed tower.

Dr Mahathir had said that the government should consult the public before proceeding with the project, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak when tabling Budget 2011.

Government investment arm Pemodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) had defended the RM5 billion project, saying that it would neither involve public nor depositor funds.

PNB has formed PNB Merdeka Ventures as a wholly-owned unit to undertake the RM5 billion skyscraper project on the land it bought from Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad in 2000.

PNB paid RM310 million or RM220 per sq ft to buy the land, but the market value of the land has since appreciated to RM800 per sq ft today.

The land was initially given to UEM Berhad in exchange for the infrastructure giant building the National Stadium complex in Bukit Jalil for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders have also derided the grandiose skyscraper project as wasteful and accused Datuk Seri Najib Razak of trying to “out-Mahathir” Dr Mahathir.

Dr Mahathir had embarked on a massive development spree after he took power in 1981 by building highways, the Penang Bridge, opening new industrial estates and oversaw the construction of the Petronas Twin Towers, the KL International Airport, the Sepang International Circuit, intra-city train lines, several ports, and the new administrative capital Putrajaya and its neighbouring Cyberjaya, which was central to the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) project.

Najib appeared to distance himself from the controversial tower when he made it known that the project did not originate from him but PNB.

He nevertheless defended it, saying that it would have a “multiplier effect” on the economy and help drive it forward, in addition to providing an attractive commercial centre for Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera businesses alike.

In his 2011 Budget speech, Najib said the rationale for the Warisan Merdeka tower was similar to that of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, in that it would serve as a symbol of a modern and developed Malaysia.

The 19-acre development area of the mega project — which includes a condominium and a shopping mall — is sited on the car park and land adjacent to Stadium Negara and Stadium Merdeka.

Zaid, take a break and refocus your efforts

Zaid should take a break from party politics and focus on developing the necessary tools and mechanisms to put in place a shadow cabinet based on the Pakatan Rakyat policy framework.

It should provide guidelines and directions on how to develop the various policies, directions and action plans for all the different areas highlighted in the framework.

The numerous offers of expertise by civil society, which includes NGOs, professionals, academicians and concerned citizens should be tapped to form the shadow cabinet.

It is not important at this time to identify the shadow cabinet ministers. He must harness the discontent of civil society to come up with action plans to deliver election promises.

Zaid is the appropriate person to lead, organise and moderate the various sessions that needs to be organised for shadow cabinet ministries. If Zaid is not doing this, who else?

Yes, Zaid should take a break from party politics and just focus on bringing the various stakeholders through forums, seminars, dialogues and even a convention.

Enormous talents are willing to provide their expertise so that Pakatan not only retains control of the four states, but also instil confidence in the rakyat that it is ready for Putrajaya.

Otherwise Zaid, don’t bother about party politics at all.

There are already too many politicians around. In fact, more than necessary, that’s why the jostling for positions!

Be a statesman Zaid and lead this work that needs to be done to prepare Pakatan to govern the nation.

Shamala's verdict: Court should have resolved issues of law

In my opinion, there is a tendency for judges who are Muslim to consider that they have a duty to protect their faith. There appears to be a pattern in this direction.

As I understand Islam, in all my years in religious organizations, judges must be unbiased.

This is similar to all other religious teachings. When Muslim judges and non Muslim judges give different judgments in matters involving Islamic tenets, it is confusing for lay people.

I hope all judges will decide all cases according to what they think is just, regardless of their views about their own faith.

When the civil High Court judge, in giving joint custody of the two children to husband and wife, ordered Shamala Sathiaseelan not to expose her two children to her own religion of Hinduism, the judge did not cite any civil law authority for such a decision.

When the government Islamic religious authority converted her own infant children to Islam without her consent, and the civil High Court refused to intervene telling her instead to submit to that religious department for assistance, it was the last straw for her.

If she committed contempt of court by leaving the country with her children, the above can be considered strong mitigating factors.

The husband who deserted her was being given special consideration because he was a Muslim.

Both the High Court and the government religious authorities did not give recognition to her equal rights as a mother and a woman.

She appealed to the Court of Appeal who referred the matter to the Federal Court. She hoped she would get justice. But the Federal Court has shut her out completely.

If she was in contempt of court, that offence must be considered separately.

It did not mean that she should be denied relief in the substantive matters she complained about.

Pull together, Guan Eng tells Perak DAP factions

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng told the warring factions in the party’s Perak chapter to close ranks after today’s polls and concentrate on recapturing the state in the next general election.

Lim, who opened the polls this morning, reminded party members to keep their sights set on the bigger picture and unite under the common goal of helping Pakatan Rakyat (PR) regain Perak from Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Two years ago, at the last Perak Ordinary Convention, it was at that moment in time, that we were celebrating the achievement of being a partner in power with winning the Perak government. But now, Perak voters have lost their freedom to elect their government following the coup d’état that negated the people’s mandate.

“But I believe that two years again into the future, we will return this power. This is the responsibility of all members, to ensure that Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin is reinstated as the Perak mentri besar,” he said in his opening address.

Ngeh is expected to retain his post in today’s polls.

Perak DAP was at the forefront of PR’s success in wresting Perak from BN during Election 2008, when it swept all the 18 state seats it had contested. PKR won in seven state seats while PAS took six, earning the three opposition parties a majority of 31 seats to BN’s 28.

Due to the subsequent defections of three PR representatives — two from PKR and one from DAP — the state fell back into BN’s hands in February 2009.

Since then, another DAP representative has deserted the party to turn independent, leaving DAP with 16 state seats to its name.

In a press conference later, Lim expressed hope that both feuding factions in Perak DAP would close ranks following today’s polls, regardless of the results.

“As we said, we want to come up as a team, a cohesive team that is in concert with the aspirations of the people,” he said.

Today’s state polls is said to be a crucial test for the Perak DAP leadership, which has been split between two factions headed by the Ngeh-Nga cousins and M. Kulasegaran respectively.

It is, however, believed that the cousins — incumbent state DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and secretary Nga Kor Ming — will likely be re-elected into one of the 15 posts in the state committee once the polls close today.

The cousins have been at loggerheads with Kulasegaran and his loyalists over several leadership issues, including the formation of branches in the state and the alleged dictatorial leadership methods employed by the duo.

At the climax of the leadership crisis last month, Kulasegaran caused an uproar when an unsettled dispute with the cousins led him to threaten to quit all his state party posts and expose his grouses in public.

Following intervention from the party’s national leaders, however, Kulasegaran held back on his threat and stayed on in his post, abiding the gag order that the leadership had issued.

Today, however, Lim claimed that no such order had ever existed and insisted that he had merely advised both factions not to air their dirty linen in public.

“No gag order. There was none, none that I am aware of. That was just an advice given by me. All party matters should be resolved internally and it was agreed by both parties so why was it twisted to be a gag order?” he said.

He reiterated the importance for the party leaders to stand together as a team to face the coming general election.

“We want also to honour the memories of those who sacrificed for their dreams so that we can live in ours. So the best way is we must work together,” he said.

Lim also called on the media not to manipulate the issues plaguing Perak DAP, pointing out that it would only serve the interest of their enemies in BN.

“Just let the delegates decide,” he said.

During today’s convention, a total of 78 per cent or 961 delegates of 1,228 delegates were present.

The results of the polls are expected to be announced shortly.

Kula's faction voted out in DAP election

In a surprising turn of events, Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran and most of his loyalists failed to survive Perak DAP’s crucial party polls today and was not voted into the top 15 posts on the state committee.

Only one member of his faction, Jalong assemblyman and incumbent party treasurer Leong Mee Meng, made the 15th spot, when the polls results were announced at 7.15pm this evening.

Others in Kulasegaran’s camp like Pasir Pinji assemblyman and incumbent organising secretary Thomas Su Keong Seong; Pasir Berdamar assemblyman and incumbent state committee member Seah Leong Peng; and Cheong Cheong Chi Khing, also an incumbent state committee member; failed to make the cut, along with their leader.

Kulasegaran’s arch-rivals, on the other hand, incumbent state DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and incumbent secretary Nga Kor Ming cruised to an easy win and polled the top two highest number of votes of the 41 candidates in the contest.

The results further strengthen the cousin’s hold over DAP’s Perak chapter, once seen to be wracked by a leadership crisis involving the two warring factions.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: All of these allegations and suspicions could have been avoided if the IGP (inspector-general of police) and the RMP (Royal Malaysian Police) had supported the formation of the IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission).

Even the government, for reasons best known to it, was opposed to the IPCMC when the Royal Commission on the Operations and Management of the RMP made its recommendations to the then PM Abdullah Badawi, who was supportive of the IPCMC, to set it up as soon as possible to restore public confidence in the police force.

To date, even the watered down Enforcement Agencies Integrity Commission has yet to see the light of day although the Act setting it up received the Royal Assent last year. Until the politicians from the ruling BN/Umno government stop interfering directly or indirectly with the police force and the force itself is reformed from top to bottom to eradicate corruption and abuses and to restore integrity, professionalism, discipline and ethics, the RMP will remain suspect in the minds of many right-thinking Malaysians.

Multi Racial: This is the problem with the government. They think the people are stupid. We all knew what Musa Hassan is talking about when he mentioned interference from Home Ministry. I am sure Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and Home Ministry secretary-general Mahmood Adam knew that too.

Musa was referring to the Home Ministry interfering with the police doing their job. But Mahmood, thinking we are stupid, cleverly twisted the story as if the interference meant the Home Ministry not acceding to police's requests. Come on, learn to speak the truth.

Anonymous: Do you expect Hishammuddin to say, "Yes, I did interfere"? Of course, he is going to deny it. That's what the BN government is good at. All the major institutions in the country, including the judiciary and police, have lost the respect of the rakyat due to such interferences.

Artchan: With Musa's allegations against the Home Ministry, all Hishammuddin could do was come with a feeble statement denying any interference. Hisham is his boss and should recommend that the IGP be disciplined for his foul mouth. But Hisham is not the man he is, or he cannot afford Musa to spill the beans if any action is taken.

They can take away Musa's one-year extension, but they can't muzzle him. Maybe to buy his silence, they would probably give him a big golden handshake.

There is no way he would do that; for as a civilian, Musa, without the unbridled power as an IGP, not only will fail in his action but will be humiliated by the system which served him so well during his time with the police.

Welcome to the real world, citizen Musa, you may have to pay for your past sins. In your case, is it too late for atonement?

Teh: If he makes a report, he may be questioned by the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission). Then he will have to strangle himself and fall off a window from a tall building.

LI Ting Rui: Musa, you cannot be in power forever. Change is inevitable. You have exhausted your usefulness to Umno. Only you are the one responsible for all the evils that you have done. Sayonara!

Vijay: Musa Hassan, you are exactly one of the hopeless cases picked up from the way side and elevated to a lofty position because you serve well your political masters. Mr Koon Yew Yin, perhaps you should come up with other ideas of helping poor families from all races. I am sure your RM30 million can provides scholarships to all the nine-A students who miss out on other scholarships. They can pay back to your fund to help other students. DontPlayGod: Sorry for sounding cynical, but when such things like this happen, quite often, it is always that some fat cat has some monetary designs involved somewhere. Maybe that RM30 million meant for building hostels is a threat to those powers-that-be who are already raking in a handsome amount from rentals of houses in the nearby housing areas? If not, what other reason can there be?

Clearwater: Within the MCA universe, self-interest trumps public interest anytime. If Utar were to accept Koon's offer to build hostels for the good of the students, property-owning MCA members and sympathisers in the vicinity will suffer economic loss; and MCA, their votes. PKR must change

The upcoming Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) National Congress to commence starting from tomorrow until 30 May at the Trade Centre in Kota Bahru, Kelantan will be watched by all supporters of Pakatan Rakyat.

During the congress, the PKR leadership must come up with a firm and concrete solution to stem out its defection sickness as well as to shed off its "ex-Umno" image in order to become a formidable opposition party in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

Since after the general elections, PKR has been frequently rocked by series of resignations and defections of its members of parliament and state assemblymen which saw the numbers of its seat in the parliament being reduced to 25 as compared to the previous outstanding number.

The leaders of PKR must be brave enough to come up strongly against opportunist in its party and to get rid of those "Umno characteristic" leaders and members in order not to jeopardize its image and reputation again in the next general election.

Besides, PKR leaders must also stop all its favoritism in its election candidate selection and all its potential candidates ought to be filter and censored as careful as possible in order to avoid another round of defections.

If defections in PKR continues, it is feared that its supporters and voters will not be able to put their trust on its candidates anymore in the next general election.

So, PKR you need to act fast.

MIC rebel against Samy

Aiyoyo Samy, only now did the MIC leaders and members realized that their party president Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu who was defeated in the last general election was a mere Umno tool.

Only now did the MIC leaders and member realized that Samy Vellu had all these years made use of the party for his political and self interest.

We really feel sorry for the conditions in the MIC. After decades and years of Samy's firm grip over the party organization and after Samy's fist had firmly control the party, only did the members today realized his dictatorship is going to destroy the party.

You know why, this is because one after another party leader who went against Samy the president got the sack immediately after they made their statement publicly calling him to leave the party presidency soonest.

Well, they didn't realize that Samy as the party president got the dictatorial presidential powers to outdo the central committee and sack anyone at his own discretion. What a disgusting chapter in the party.

MIC now exist only in name. It no longer enjoy the support from the Indian community like what it has been 50 years ago. MIC today only exist just because of Umno. Umno wanted to make use of MIC in order to dress the Barisan Naisonal (BN) coalition as a multiracial organization but in actual fact it is not.

In the BN coalition, Umno calls all the shots. Its coalition partners, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBS, LDP, PRS, SPDP, Upko, PBB and SUPP are mere puppets in the Umno dominated coalition. Umno dictates and make all the decisions for and on behalf of the coalition.

Only now did the MIC leaders and members realized how irrelevant their party is with Samy Vellu at helm. An when the rebellion began to spread to the entire party machinery, the Samy Vellu faction started to point their fingers at their political master Umno who in turn called them "biadap".

What had Samy Vellu's MIC done for the Malaysian Indian community? Nothing, nothing at all. The majority in the community is getting poorer and frustrated, while those rich MIC leaders had established themselves far away from the community and made themselves "Bangsawan India".

Will MIC ever survive the current leadership crisis this time?

Zambry says Soi Lek can strengthen Perak MCA (with oral sex)

The Perak head of the rebel state government Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has expressed confidence that the appointment of MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek as the Perak MCA Liaison Committee chairman could strengthen the party and the BN in the state.

Strengthen MCA and the BN in Perak with what? Oral sex parties? He is going to bring oral sex into the state BN leadership and its members as well.

When Dr Chua's oral sex adventure is proven and shown on videos and youtubes to the entire nation, he was forgiven by the BN top leadership, the home ministry, the police and the MCA central delegates and in the end got elected as party president.

What about the case of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim? He was accused of an offense which is similar to the oral sex that is considered as a crime in the penal code. But has it being proven? No, the prosecution had to-date failed to prove that Datuk Seri Anwar had committed the act.

But the Umno-led BN federal government is now pressuring the judiciary to ensure Datuk Seri Anwar is "proven" and found guilty as soon as possible in order to prevent him from participating in the next general elections.

Well, BN had already decided that oral sex within its coalition is a right thing to do, while what has been done outside are all wrong even if it is yet to be proven.

Does that mean, lets join BN to do whatever you like above the law and break as many as you like? The police will salute you!

MIC's Mugilan top Umno choice for Hulu Selangor by election

MIC Youth deputy leader V. Mugilan is the top Umno choice as Barisan Nasional candidate for Hulu Selangor over his political mentor and party deputy president Datuk G. Palanivel.

Besides, Mugilan's faction in the MIC is also said to be working hand in hand with Umno in order to get the latter's assistance in lobbying at the top BN leadership level, thus sidelining the MIC deputy president Palanivel.

Tanjung Gerakan Youth chief in hiding after Umno's Ahmad came out from suspension

Yesterday, we all got to know that the Umno Bukit Bendera division committee members tendered their resignations en-bloc in order to force a re-election of the said division which will see its formerly suspended division chief Ahmad Ismail coming back to helm the division once he lead.

According to Ahmad who told the press conference called by the division committee that in order for them to patch things up with Gerakan, its party president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon must come out to "kow tow" and make a public apology.

Ahmad also mentioned should Dr Koh were to really come forward to "kow tow" and apologize, he will also need to review it with his division committee before he could formally accept them.

Just look at how arrogant this terrorist leader from Umno towards its BN component party member, Gerakan. And yet Gerakan was too scared to make any response to the Umno war mongering and hate messages.

Where is the Tanjung Gerakan Youth division chief H'ng Khoon Leng who often came up to criticize the DAP as a chauvinistic Chinese political party? Why is he so scared of Umno and dare not even put up a strong message to Ahmad?

H'ng is as coward as a mouse when come to dealing with Umno, the dominant party in the BN, but when it comes confronting the Pakatan Rakyat, he is quick to bash things up maybe because he felt comfortable bashing up politics of his own ethnic.

Ahmad "Kerbau" Ismail's return imminent, suicide bombers killed dozens of people

All 36 committee members of the Bukit Bendera Umno division have resigned in a move to force the re-election of the divisional committee, in particular to return Ahmad Ismail as its division chairperson after his less than 3 years suspension was lifted by the party supreme council.

Ahmad Ismail better known as Ahmad Kerbau was suspended for three years from the party membership before that for uttering racist remarks during the Permatang Pauh Parliamentary by-elections by calling the Malaysian Chinese community as "kaum pendatang" and "penduduk sementara". His suspension however, was lifted by the party leadership less than three years because of his "good behaviour".

During the press conference called by the Bukit Bendera Umno division yesterday, Ahmad also insisted that in order for him to patch up with Gerakan, its party president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon must "kow tow" to him and apologize in public before he could forgive the later.

Meanwhile, two female muslim separatist suicide bombers had blown themselves up in the middle of the crowded and packed yesterday metro trains in central Moscow which killed about 37 people on board while about 60 over commuters were badly injured.

It is feared that more of those who were badly injured may die because the explosive and bombs exploded were filled with bolts and iron rods.

An Umno's anal called Perkasa

The Organization of Pribumi Greatness or better known as Perkasa which was formed by independent Pasir Mas member of parliament Ibrahim Ali often call for violent, hate and revengeful reactions against other Malaysians in the name of their "community's greatness".

What is so great about this Perkasa anyway? Spreading violent, hate and revengeful message around the country, organizing street demonstrations, protests, shouting and yielding here and there just to voice their hate, hate, hate and nothing else but hate.

If Perkasa hate the other Malaysians so much, we would advise them to go a more positive measure rather than to harm other people i.e. either you hit your own chest, bang your heads on the wall or you commit suicide to avoid all the challenges in this world that had always made you all frustrated.

Just look at Ibrahim's face, his reaction and moves (pic), it shows that he has deep hatred and wanted to avenge someone. He feel that he and his guys were being marginalized for decades and that is why he is standing up to start a war to fight with his band of Perkasa armies.

What is Perkasa anyway? It is actually a sub-contract organization who is now playing the role of upholding the defense on "Ketuanan" or Supremacist on behalf of Umno. Umno sub-contracted this role to Perkasa in order not to offend their fellow BN component parties such as MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, SUPP, PBS, PRS, Upko, etc, etc.

By sub-contracting the more radical racist tone and its role to Perkasa, Umno hope to escape from being scrutinized by its fellow component parties in the BN which Umno is a dominant part of it. Perkasa was also sub-contracted to bring the Malay community back into Umno's fold by labelling political parties other than Umno as anti-Malay, destroying Malay rights, marginalizing Malays and traitors to the Malay's course.

Anyone who did not follow the Perkasa's course are just simply being labelled as traitors or in other words "penderhaka" and anti-constitution.

And while Perkasa is sub-contracted with the radical agendas, Umno makes it clean by doing its 1Malaysia (traps) as usual in order to "win back" the heart of the non-Malay communities. A very well-planned conspiracy in doing.

To trap the voters back into their machinery and eliminate them once and for all, while Perkasa is just an Umno's dirty anal, doing all the dirtiest job for the later.

Initially there was an intention to cover up the inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hasan plan to resign from his post. Musa had in fact tendered his resignation to the home affairs minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein but the minister rejected it and instead requested him to serve till his contract expires on September.

As such, what China Press had earlier reported based on the leak from Bukit Aman itself was in fact true. Musa was asked to retract his resignation and deny in public that he had resigned which resulted to China Press being made a scapegoat for alleged "misreporting".

Is Hishammuddin doing this for the sake of saving his own face by using Musa as a shield? A very well-planned conspiracy being carried out in such a way.

Attempts by Umno-link NGOs, Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce, Peninsular Malaysia Malay Students Confederation (GPMS) and a radical Malay front called Perkasa to distabilize Penang and its state government failed as the Penang people had choose not to be influenced by these groups who were out there to demonstrate their terror and hate in order to scare the people into submission.

Scores of supporters and members of these three groups had earlier yesterday gathered at the Penang state government administrative centre in Komtar to demonstrate against what they claimed "racial oppression" by the state leadership and got an effigy of the chief minister burned in public.

Besides, the supporters and members of these groups also shouted and chanted racist and hate slogans in order to voice their dissent against the Pakatan state government.

What kind of dissent are they talking about? Pro-government newspapers also painted an ugly side of the state government and taking side at the radical Malay NGOs who are all Umno-link saying that the Penang leaders had not done enough and oppressing the "Malays".

Coroner rejects MACC contempt, Teoh inquest resumes Feb 19

As expected, the magistrate’s court here today rejected the bid by the deceased’s family who wanted action taken against Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer Raub Ghani for lodging a police report against a key witness in the ongoing inquest.

Magistrate Azmil Muntapha Abbas said that in a contempt charge, the intention behind the act did not matter. Therefore, the MACC officer who tried to sabotage the inquest proceedings escaped the law just like that.

Just because of this MACC guy the inquest has been postponed so many times as the key witness to the case, Dr Pornthip did not want to testify for fear of being detained by the police after Raub lodged a police report against her.

We doubt the magistrate's inquest would serve justice to the Teoh family as what we saw this case is going to prolong. Can this inquest guarantee that the murderer could be found and brought to justice as soon as possible.

Zambry claimed Umno can win 34 seats in next polls but they dare not walk the talk

The leader of the Perak rebel state government Dr Zambry Abd Kadir claimed that Perak Umno could win about 34 seats in the next election but he insisted that he will not call for snap polls in order to prove his claim right.

Zambry instead called on the 28 Pakatan state assemblymen to quit en bloc to prove they have the people's support.

Come on Zambry, your party launched a coup to toppled a legitimate state government elected by the people and installed your rebel state government into force without the people's mandate.

If you claim you can win 34 state seats, then you should initiate to dissolve the state legislative assembly in order to prove your claim is accurate. Do not push the ball to Pakatan Rakyat. They are the victim of your political game.

Police roadblock at the Penang Bridge. Who was the idiot incharge?

I had just returned from my office in Penang after a day's work and while on my way back at the Penang Bridge, a massive traffic jam was underway, from the middle path right to the entrance leading into the Prai Industrial Estate in the mainland. I was one of the unfortunate motorist caught in the massive jam which began from 7.00pm.

As what the other motorist had thought, maybe it was an accident on the road at the bridge and so we dragged on slowly and patiently through the journey.

To our very grave disappointment, we found that it was the police who caused all those massive traffic jams from the middle of the bridge right down to the road leading into Prai. They blocked two of the three lanes at the end of bridge leading to Prai and as the result the motorist have to squeeze into the one lane and this is what makes the jam into a tragically terrible one.

What I saw when I saw the police personnel manning the roadblocks were talking and laughing like as it they are poking some jokes and funs on the motorist who are suffering from their roadblocks.

Come on, it is a peak hour for those who had just finish their day's job and work. All of us are surely exhausted and wanted to head straight home to take our baths, have our dinners and take our rest together with our families. But today, the police had sabotaged ruin our lives in order by making things from bad to worst?

What if there is an emergency in the middle of the bridge? What if there is somebody on the bridge who needed medication or who is in the midst to attend to an appointment, sitting for and exam, getting something done in accordance to the law and so on?

Don't they have other important matters to tend to, other than manning roadblocks in order to create a massive traffic jam? The police said they do not have enough personnel to ensure the security and safety of the churches from being bombed by extremists and terrorists, but they mobilized a sizeable battalion of personnel just to mann a roadblock and just laugh off at us like that. This ain't funny at all. The police are violating our basic human rights in this way.

The crime rate is increasing day by day, robberies, rapes, snatch thieves, mat rempits, cow-headed trouble makers, etc are everywhere and the police did nothing to stop all these crooks. What they did so far? Focusing on political security in order to protect Umno from the oppositions?

I just wonder who was that idiotic police officer in charge who organized such a stupid and senseless block on the bridge? Is he out to gain some credit from his boss or what?

The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) maintains that Christians should not be allowed to use the word “Allah” and rejects the suggestion that the word could be used in East Malaysia while remaining banned on the peninsula.

The Selangor police chief has threatened Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng that police will not hesitate to arrest him if he fails to give his statement on alleged sedition.

Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said a police team, including the investigating officer from Shah Alam, was sent to Penang on Saturday to record his statement but he had refused to co-operate.

Lim is being investigated for allegedly uttering seditious remarks during a Pakatan Rakyat convention in Shah Alam on Dec 19 last year. He was alleged to have said that political aide Teoh Beng Hock’s death was murder.

Lim had earlier demanded for the police report to be given to him first and ultimately no statement was recorded.

Yes, Lim was correct in refusing to give his statement. If the police said there is a police report lodged against him, show it out and not just mentioning it verbally. We wish to remind DCP Datuk Khalid to follow proper procedures by producing the "police report" that he claimed was lodged against Lim by a man.

The police is now misusing their powers widely by targeting leaders of the Pakatan Rakyat. They send a battalion to arrest PKR advisor and Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and if the police still fail to obtain Lim's statement, will they be dispatching a regiment of police commandos to arrest him?

The police had put politics above the public safety. You do not have enough men to protect the churches nationwide from terrorist attacks but you have sufficient men to arrest just one man like Lim and Anwar. Is this justice?

But today, another church in Johor was targeted by possible attackers with paints splashed at the entrance of the building.

So, we would like to ask Hishammuddin, is the situation still under control? The cops are not doing their work reasoning that they do not have enough manpower to do so. But they got enough manpower to prepare for the arrest of the Penang Chief Minister in event they fail to obtain the statement from him.

After series of churches being attacked with fire bombs nationwide by some unknown terrorist, the Sikh temple is not spared neither.

The temple was attacked like that for some very unreasonable cause. For what? Can the Muslim NGOs now extend their volunteer security patrol at all Sikh temples, then later to all Chinese and Hindu temples around the clock?

Pakatan wants Umno to take responsibility for church attacks by the terrorists

PKR Supreme Council Member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim today condemned Umno and urged the government to take full responsibility for the church attacks.

"It has to take full responsibility for the worsening of relations between people of different faiths in this country in its handling of the use of the word Allah. "The irresponsible conduct of fanning the emotions by Umno leaders has brought about this dangerous situation. What we see today confirms that this country is being governed not by engagement consultation, sophistication or persuasion but by brute and mob force,” he said in a press statement.

Early this morning, a Protestant church was torched while homemade explosives were thrown at a Catholic church next to the Assunta Hospital. "The Umno-led government has the penchant to use force or flexing of authority in dealing with delicate issues. Take the case of the ban imposed on the Herald. They could easily have engaged in consultation with the church in Sabah and Sarawak. They should try to understand why the need to use the word Allah without any preconceived notions or prejudice. After all, they have been using the word Allah for many years before BN government acted to ban the Herald.

"They could easily have also engaged in discussions with the various Muslim groups about their legitimate concerns on whether the church are surreptitiously converting Muslims and explore ways to address these concerns in spirit of dialogue and peaceful deliberations,” he said.
He explained that there are already laws against converting Muslims but Umno instead chose to politicise the sensitive issue.

"There is already a law against converting Muslims anyway. They could have done a lot more. But because of their lack of maturity and sophistication banning is the obvious choice.

"Umno want instant popularity, so fanning the emotions of Muslims becomes legitimate... and when the court ruled otherwise they then fan the Muslims to oppose the ruling. The people of this country will not escape the scourge of Umno-led rule until they decide once and for all to dislodge this government in the next available opportunity.”

PAS has also reminded and warned its members not to engage in any demonstrations organised in the Kampung Baru Mosque, Shah Alam Mosque and the National Mosque after Friday prayers.

The protest is being orchestrated by several Muslim NGOs in retaliation against the High Court's ruling on Dec 31 allowing the Catholic Church to use the word "Allah" in its weekly publication the Herald.

PAS vice-president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man had said that the demonstration on the use of the word “Allah” is Umno’s position and not the party’s. "We call on all members of PAS in order not to be dragged in the same demonstration sponsored by Umno," he told party’s newspaper.

PAS backs the use of the word Allah by Catholics because it is consistent with the Federal Constitution and the fundemental Islamic principles.

Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak has also defended his government’s decision to allow angry Muslim groups to hold a nationwide protest against the “Allah” ruling, saying they have every right to do so.

So, if that is the case, we urge Datuk Najib to explain the terrorist attacks on the four churches initiated by Umno supporters and pro-Umno NGOs. But we doubt you will be able to do that.

Umno had encourage such terror and now when it happened, they wanted to deny it. We are not going to believe you anymore.

By the way, ISA and the Sedition Act are only apply to Pakatan Rakyat.

Dr Asri says Muslims should not object if ‘Allah’ is refer to God

Influential Islamic scholar Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin stepped into the “Allah” controversy today by pointing out that Muslims should not protest against non-Muslims using the word "Allah” to describe God.

"Man should refer to the one true God as Allah. This proves the teachings of Islam in referring to God as Allah. Therefore all of mankind regardless of their religion should say that Allah has created the world, that Allah tells us to do good and so on.

It is good that Dr Mohd Asri took the initiative to explain the situation following the continuous manipulation of certain parties especially Umno to make the situation worst.

Right now, pro-Umno non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are making a hell of noise all over the country by acting radically and behaved violently in the streets, threatening non-Muslims with their so-called "ketuanan" jargons.

These actions are deemed uncivilised and inhuman. No religion will teach nor encourage their followers to act in such an unacceptable manner.

PDRM should be replaced

After years of observation on the performance of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), we are all gravely disappointed at their actions and position being one-sided and unprofessional in the way they perform.

They had acted in such a manner that we should call them Umno police instead of its original professional name, the police force. Why do we say that? Simple, it is because they are working efficiently to advance the political interest of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).

They did not have sufficient time or manpower to curb the rising crimes in our country but they do have enough personnel to be mobilized via their Special Branch to curb opposition politics and to make unjust arrests on innocent people who are working hard out there to advance the democratic principles and justice for our nation.

The mobilized the entire regiment to support Umno’s coup de’tat in Perak, they mobilized an entire battalion to arrest opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, they mobilized an entire division to ousted Perak speaker Sivakumar from him office, they mobilized thousands of special branch personnel nationwide to spy on our opposition party leaders and now they are planning to mobilize a regiment to arrest the Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng for alleged “seditious” remarks he had made in the recently concluded Pakatan Rakyat National Convention.

When Umno organized an illegal demonstration in Penang trying to incite a racial riot to topple the Penang state government, PDRM did nothing. When Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Ahmad Ismail tried to incite hatred and violence, PDRM did nothing, when Penang Umno secretary Azhar Ibrahim called for a journalist to be gunned down, PDRM did nothing. When threatening messages of bloodshed were made in the Umno general assembly, PDRM did nothing.

But when the Pakatan Rakyat leaders are out there trying to protect our people’s interest and defending democracy, justice and equality, PDRM quickly and efficiently roll in their tanks, weaponary and regiments to curb and arrest these people for nothing.

And today, violent criminals like the mat rempits, murders, snatch thieves, robbers, rapist, drug lords, political racist and the real penderhakas are roaming around the nation freely threatening the security and safety of our families, neighbors, children, friends, relatives and our parents. PDRM responded that they cannot do much reasoning that they did not have enough personnel to carry out the patrolling.

This clearly shows that PDRM is already being political motivated, one-sided and pro-Umno. They are acting in the interest of Umno and its elites in order to safeguard their interest as well as the looted national funds in their pockets.

Due to afraid of being further exposed, PDRM even went to an extend of mobilizing its officers’ corps to send a protest and threatened the then premier Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to stop his proceedings in working towards the establishment of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) in the parliament.

Therefore, PDRM ought to be replaced as soon as possible with a more credible, professional and people-oriented People’s Security Force. PDRM is a thing of the past and outdated. PDRM is still in a denial mode and cannot be reformed anymore, just like their masters, Umno.

DAP MP raps Umno cops for ‘intimidating’ critics

DAP Bukit Bendera MP Liew Chin Tong today lambasted the police for using laws such as the Sedition Act and the Communications and Multimedia Act in an effort to quell dissenting views expressed by the public.

Citing DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's recent case where he is being investigated under the Sedition Act as an example, Liew said the police action was "deplorable".

"Police investigations of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over his statement on the death of Teoh Beng Hock and the subsequent police action to interrogate DAP Selangor chairman and Selangor State Exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah over his statement on the probe on Guan Eng are most deplorable," said the Bukit Bendera MP in a statement.

The police force which has been seen as influenced and directed by Umno is threatening the democratic process of our nation and if they left unchecked could lead to the establishment of an Umno dictatorship and a police state in near future.

Is it wrong for Guan Eng and Ean Yong to express their wish to bring justice to Beng Hock? Is it wrong for Guan Eng and Ean Yong to support the call to expedite on Beng Hock's death at the Selangor MACC headquarters? Is the police helping MACC to cover-up the murder by trying to delay the investigation and magistrate's inquest?

In this case, we wish to repeat our call to have the Independent Police Complaints and Misconducts Commission (IPCMC) established as soon as possible in order to curb the power abuses and mismanagement in the police force.

If IPCMC cannot reform the police force, we suggest Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to be dissolved and replace with a new entity call Public Security Force (PSF).

Theft on jet engines a shame to our nation

A widening scandal over the theft of two jet engines by senior military personnel has exposed serious lapses in Malaysia’s security establishment.

It has also raised concerns that the country is emerging as a hub for the trade of illicit military-related equipment to countries declared as rogue nations by the United States and its allies.

Over the past week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his Cabinet colleagues have scrambled to defend embarrassing revelations that two F5-E jet engines from the Royal Malaysian Air Force and other sensitive military equipment were smuggled out of a high-security airbase and moved by a cargo plane out of the country.

The Umno-led BN federal government had lead Malaysia into a most embarassing episode in our nation's history. It is believed that if the Pakatan Rakyat were to wrest control over Putrajaya in the next general elections, more scandals and government mismanagement will be uncovered and exposed to the public.

And this is what Umno is fearing off, therefore giving only limited coverage on this scandal to the press by promising no "cover up" but in fact it has already been cover up earlier. That is why it was only reported today, when those people committed the treason in 2007.

Umno cops to probe Guan Eng for saying Beng Hock was murdered

The Umno controlled police have initiated a sedition investigation against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for suggesting Teoh Beng Hock was murdered, in a move that will fuel the controversy surrounding the DAP aide's death.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said today that Lim who is also the DAP secretary-general, was not facing immediate arrest, but would have his statement recorded. Khalid said Lim was being investigated over his speech made at the inaugural Pakatan Rakyat (PR) convention last Saturday in Shah Alam.

We would like to as the Umno influenced police force, in what way was Guan Eng instigating public disorder by mentioning that Beng Hock was murdered? Kindly explained and elaborate further to the people.

What about yourself being influenced and controlled by the supremacist Umno who are out to bring down Pakatan Rakyat leaders for a number of "alleged law breaking"? We fully support this statement made by Guan Eng. We also call for an immediate establishment of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) in order to fully scrutinise the entire police force.

Hishamuddin suffering from brain damage

The home minister and Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein might be suffering from a severe brain damage and he must seek help to cure his sickness.

Why did we say that? Because he said the bloggers are unethical and that means Utusan Malaysia is doing a great job! This shows that he didn't know what he himself is talking about. He is out of his mind.

Right now, as everyone is aware, Utusan Malaysia is actively promoting hatred, racial divide and trying to create political unrest in our nation by putting up racist articles in their newspaper. First they wanted 13 May to repeat, then they insulted the Chinese and now they said the Indians are rough guys.

And just because Utusan Malaysia is Umno's wholly-owned, the home minister supported their move and condemned the bloggers instead because the truth were being widely reported in public.

Until now, no action was taken against Utusan Malaysia for its racist and hate messages which were published regularly. Whereas when the bloggers are trying to report and spread the truth and to correct the inaccurate, they were harrassed by the police special branch and threatened with imprisonment.

This is undemocratic and dictatorial. Can we trust this federal government again?

Banning Christians from using the word ‘Allah’ unconstitutional, court told

Yes, such ban is very very unconstitutional. Unconsitutional that it is already against the basic human rights enshrined in our Federal Constitution.

Article 3 (1) maintained that Islam the official religion of this country and other religions are also permited to be practiced freely in this country. Article 11 (3) (a) stated that every religion in this country has every right to manage its own religious affairs, while Article 10 (1) (a) guarantees our freedom of speech and Article 8 (1) recognise the equality of every citizens in this country.

The word "Allah" is universal and it does not belongs to any particular religion. In the Northern Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak, the natives who embraced Christianity since birth use the word "Allah" in their Malay language bible in their church services.

In Indonesia, Indonesian Christians are allowed to have the word "Allah" used in their Malay language bibles and printing as well as publishing of these texts are even allowed.

Even PAS Spiritual Advisor and Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat openly agreed that the word "Allah" should not be monopolised only in the name of Islam. The word "Allah" is arabic and it is a direct translation from the word God.

Islam is originated from the Arab continent and it does not mean one who is a non-Muslim cannot learn to read and write arabic. Arabic is a language, not a religion.

Therefore, Umno, BN, their federal government and the home ministry in particular, please accept the facts and not making a fool of yourselves in the eyes of the international community.

There is no point for you to uphold your supremacist ideas in such way.

Chin Peng should be allowed home, Umno a great pretender

We had heard of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) secretary-general Ong Boon Hua @ Chin Peng's application to return to his hometown in Perak and its was swiftly rejected by the Umno dominated BN federal government on grounds of his past insurgency during the 1948-1960 emergency.

And he applied again via application to seek a court injunction to instruct the BN federal government to allow him to return to his hometown in Perak but his application was thrown out after the home ministry interfered.

Recently the deputy prime minister and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that Chin Peng will not be forgiven due to his past deeds and the deaths of our soldiers that are still in the memories of their relations and so on.

The BN and Umno leaders are great pretenders and hypocrites. You know why we said this? There are a lots of reasons to elaborate the situation that does not serve Chin Peng fairly.

First, if they said that the MCP had committed attrocities during the 1948-60 emergency period, then why didn't they blame MCP's sponsor as well - the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It was wellknown that during the MCP insurgency in Malaya at that time the CCP channelled its support actively to MCP in terms of arms and financial supplies. Besides the CCP and its youth organisation Communist Youth League (CYL) also provide training and motivational courses for MCP cadres and their top party leaders as well.

And today, Umno and Pemuda Umno had established direct ties and close relations with the organs of the CCP and CYL via party to party visits and so on. We had seen in the news and reports. It started when prime minister Datuk Najib's father Tun Abdul Razak initiated Malaysia's diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China by paying tribute to Chairman Mao Tse Tung during his visit to Beijing at that time.

Talking about the attrocities again, during the Second World War, the Empire of Japan carried out more attrocities and damages to humankind than any other parties in the world. When Japan conquered the entire Asia continent during the war they committed mass murders, rape, tortures, burning, ethnic cleansing which are all against the Geneva Convention. And yet today Umno had forgiven them and make friends with them by inviting them into our country for investments and businesses.

There you see, Umno is a great pretender and hypocrite.

The other one is, might it be a race factor? Umno allowed the MCP Chairman Rashid Mydin, MCP Wanita Leader Shamsiah Fakeh and the Commander of the 10th Malay MCP Regiment Abdullah CD to return to our country and even allowed their memoirs and books to be published and distributed to our Malaysian readers.

Why did Umno allowed the MCP chairman and the other prominent Malay MCP leaders to return? Because they are Malay, Muslim and Bumiputra? And they disallow Chin Peng's return because he is a Chinese and non-Muslim? What if we ask Chin Peng to convert to Islam now and then resubmit his application to return to Malaysia? Maybe Umno may reconsider that.

Come on, today he is just an old man awaiting the end of his day. His party and its arm wing, the Malayan People's Liberation Army (MPLA) has been dismantled completely. According to Umno supreme council member and information minister Datuk Dr Rais Yatim he will pose a danger and shake national security of our nation if he returns. Just what actually Datuk Rais is trying to talk about? He is talking nonsense and his elaboration does not make any sense at all.

Datuk Rais' statement and the deputy premier's as well only represents a small Malay segment in the Umno leadership and their words does not carry the weight of all Malaysians.

Poor little old man, just because he is a Chinese, he cannot return to Malaysia but his Malay comrades can do so because they are Malay Muslim Bumiputras.

MACC probing RM1.43 billion cost escalation of Rawang-Ipoh double-tracking rail project based on phantom PAC investigations?

The statement by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will investigate the double-tracking rail project that has resulted in more than RM1 billion losses, as reported by Malaysian Insider "Nazri confirms MACC to probe double-tracking project” yesterday, is intriguing and perplexing.

The Malaysian Insider reported:

The MACC investigations come after the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) announced last week it wanted to probe the RM6 billion double-tracking project when the Auditor-General's Report said poor project management led to the losses.

"MACC will investigate PAC‘s minutes. PAC is the parliament’s committee so certainly ... As I have said, MACC has informed me that they will investigate based on the allegations made by the PAC so there will be no dispute so don’t worry,” the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department told reporters in Parliament.

Nazri said that the MACC had assured him that they would pursue the PAC’s recommendations.
"The fact that it was tabled in the Parliament and there is no debate about it because the PAC is a extension of the Parliament and their decision is our decision,” he added.

MACC cannot possibly be probing the double-tracking rail project based on PAC proceedings as the PAC has yet to start investigation into the RM1.43 billion escalation of the Rawang-Ipoh double-tracking contract and there is neither any PAC meeting nor PAC minutes on it.

What is this phantom PAC proceeding on the Rawang-Ipoh double tracking project that Nazri and MACC are talking about?

Former Transport Minister, Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy had mentioned that the double-tracking project was “three times the size” of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) when he appeared before the PAC on PAC probe into the RM12.5 billion PKFZ scandal.

As Chan had told the PAC: “No, it is not the biggest (project under the Ministry of Transport). Double-tracking project is much bigger. It is 12 almost 13 billion? It is three times the size of this project (PKFZ).”

Is this tangential reference by Chan in his testimony about the double-tracking project before the PAC sufficient to found a MACC investigation purportedly based on the PAC minutes?

In any event, why is it necessary for the MACC to wait and depend on the PAC minutes and recommendations to initiate anti-corruption investigations?

Or was Nazri actually referring to the calls by UMNO MPs for MACC investigation into the current Transport Minister and MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat for purchasing four 20-year-old diesel multiple unit (DMUs) trains at RM30 million for the Rawang-Ipoh double-tracking route?

Nazri should make a proper clarification.

MCA unity plan endorsed, Liow sidelined. MCA Revolutionary Committee is the last choice?

As we know yesterday, the so-called MCA unity plan was endorsed in a close door session held yesterday at the MCA hearquarters by the party's central delegates who were present. The question here is, is this move a democratic one? Why not have it endorsed in the coming party annual general assembly due to be held on early December next month?

And then the party deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek also told the delegates not to attend the proposed extraordinary general meeting (EGM) called by former deputy president Datuk Liow Tiong Lai who now leads the MCA Integrity Restoration Task Force who wanted to reclaim his deputy presidency at all cost.

The MCA leadership crisis almost similar to the one happenned in the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT), where the other reform faction later formed the KMT Revolutionary Committee in Hong Kong and move back to China immediately after the country's civil war.

We would like to advise Datuk Liow and his faction, if you all really sincere about reform and democracy in the party, do not waste your time with this power struggle as you will not win it anyway. Follow the steps of the reform KMT leaders by moving out and establish the MCA Revolutionary Committee in order to move on with your "real political reform agenda" from there effectively.

The problem here is, are Datuk Liow, Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Datuk Chor Chee Heung and Wong Nai Chee bold enough to give up their respective government positions to materialise the MCA Revolutionary Committee to speed up their reform agenda and fight to be heard from outside BN fold?

If they really have their guts to do so, we are certain the Chinese community will support them of their courage. But again, the problem, will dare enough to do so?

'BN to win elections? Go test it in Perak'

The Najib factor would allow BN to fare better than the last general election if the 13th general election is held today, according to pro-Umno Merdeka Centre.

In that case we want to inform Najib and the director of Merdeka Centre (who should also advise Najib) then dissolve the Perak state assembly and hold fresh elections in the state. It will be a perfect chance to evaluate your so-called "excellent, visionary leadership".

The problem is Umno did not have enough guts to dissolve the Perak state assembly now to hold a fresh elections because they fear of their repeat lost in the last general elections and the exposure of their mismanagement of the state resources of their previous governance.

They had heard, seen and watched what happened to Selangor Umno and Khir Toyo who mishandled the entire state to their lust and they did not want their wrongdoings to be uprooted by the Pakatan Rakyat. That is why the Perak Umno Rebel State Government continued their illegal administration instead. They cowardly hid behind the back of the state ruler, by saying that they followed the ruler's advice, instruction and so on.

And when we say Umno is wrong, these Umno leaders will say those who said the party was wrong committed treason as the ruler had given its blessings to the party. Where is the prove that the ruler had given his consent to Umno to seize power in the state? We did not see it. It was hel behind close doors and anything can happen at all times.

Do not support Umno anymore, they are ruin the entire nation into chaos without our knowledge and we were to realise it, then it will be too late to save our nation.

Press banned from reporting Isa’s suspension

We were deliberately shock in disgrace to hear that the Chinese dailies had been instructed by the Home Ministry not to report on Tan Sri Isa Samad’s suspension from Umno ahead of the Bagan Pinang by-election.

What is this all about? Talking about "1Malaysia, Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan", and then doing some other things negatively from behind scene. This anti-democratic moves by the Home Ministry is clearly a violation of human rights, democratic principles and freedom of expression.

What if those Chinese dailies ignore the ban and choose to continue reporting on Isa Samad’s previous suspension from Umno due to money politics and corruptions in the party? Is the Home Ministry going to close down the press or what? Can anyone from the "police ministry" answer this please?

Talking in general, how on earth a tainted and corrupted leader be chosen to be a candidate for a by-election? If you give bribe to a civil servant to work on you favor or to gain something, you will be charge in the court of law and jailed.

And this former Negri Sembilan mentri besar had openly offered money to bribe the party delegates into electing him as party vice president and yet he was only suspended from Umno and not charged in the court of law.

That means, Umno is telling the people that this country had two sets of law where one applies only to Umno leaders while the other is for common people like us.

Therefore, by voting Umno’s Isa Samad into power again would mean voting to validate corruption, power abuses and money politics. These three negative elements will certainly destroy our nation’s prosperity and growth if Umno is allowed to continue to reign our nation.

Think seriously about it please!

TI: Anti-corruption efforts wanting

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and other "reforms" introduced by the government has so far been ineffective in fighting corruption in the country.

Transparency International president Datuk Paul Low said today they have not produced "the desired results" and so the public perception of corruption remains unchanged.

"Malaysians are fed-up with the status quo and the unbearable effects of corruption in the country," he told a press conference after presenting the country report in the Global Corruption Report (GCR) 2009, which focused mainly on corruption in the private sector. Also present was TI executive director Mark Chay.

Low said indicative of this is the Global Corruption Barometer 2009 survey released in May which showed that 70% Malaysians believe the Malaysian government is ineffective in fighting corruption.

In contrast, although Indonesia’s has a far worse position in the corruption perception index than Malaysia, the survey found that 76% of its people believe the Indonesian government is effective in fighting corruption.

"Before the MACC was established last December, the public perceived the then Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) was not independent from the executive branch of the government. "The ACA was perceived to be selective in its investigations and prosecutions, in that they catch only the small fry and leave the big fish -- and it was politically motivated," he said. “With the MACC now, although there are commissioners from outside in its new structure, it is really difficult to say if it is any different from the old ACA and MACC has yet to prove this statement otherwise,” he said.

Low pointed out that the controversial death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock in July, in itself raises questions on the MACC's professionalism and hints of abuses of powers in the way it conducts investigations.

Likewise, the GCR pointed out that the implementation of the watered down Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to a Special Complaints Commission (SCC), strongly indicates the government’s inability to regulate the gatekeepers.

Low said the public needs to be confident of a clean police force which is free from external influences and that investigations are conducted fairly into all reports lodged to the police.

The GCR report noted that inaction in the light of serious corruption allegations and inability to catch the ‘big fish’, has gravely undermined public confidence in the authorities. “Public confidence will be further undermined if these issues are not addressed quickly and effectively,” said Low, pointing out that issues pertaining to alleged tampering in the appointment of judges as highlighted in the V.K. Lingam case, has been left unresolved since 2007.

Low stressed that the inter-relationship and participation between the government, civil service and private sector, in effect, negates the concept of check and balance. “A common thread running through politics, the civil service and private sector is the revolving door, through which individuals move from government to business or business to politics and back again,” the report highlighted.

Low said while it is good in the context of solving economic problems and dealing with investments, “political patronage or funding and money politics are big issues in the economics.” "Until drastic action is taken to separate the cozy relationship between government, business and politics, the anti-corruption effort will remain no more than a token gesture,” he stressed.Among others, the GCR said the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) case - which it described as one of the biggest scandals of the year - involving politicians, government officials and businessmen, substantiates the weak oversight of public-private relationships. “The complexity of the relationships between politics and private sectors mean that corruption may take place with impunity.

Therefore, the practice of revolving and rotating doors and active government participation in the economy creates an appearance of impropriety…and increases corruption risks,” said the report.However, Low was happy to note that there has been commendable efforts in making public the details of the scandal. “Never in the Malaysian history has there been such a disclosure before,” he said.

Meanwhile, the GCR commended the Penang state government for introducing several measures to improve the regulatory environment with regard to government procurement, referred to as a CAT -- Competent, Accountable and Transparent - government.“It is the first state government to implement the open tender system for government procurement and contracts,” it noted.

As to the question of whether corruption is a way of life in Malaysia, Low said: “Yes, when the society believes that nothing can be done to fight it; when elected representatives and their close supporters believe that they are there to make money for themselves; when institutions and enforcement agencies are ineffective and independence are compromised; and yes, when dishonesty, corruption and self-indulgence becomes values that are tolerated.” - The Sundaily

BN will never change

Let us look at the recently concluded party elections in the MIC where all those men who were aligned to Samy Vellu won and grabbed all the important positions in the central committee and the disciplinary board as well.

The reformers led by Datuk S.Sothinathan were blantantly rejected by the assembly of conservative delegates. After his defeat, no one knows where is Sothi's direction or what will be his next course of action.

For Datuk S.Subramaniam who is vying for a comeback but failed to garner enough votes to take down Samy's Datuk G.Palanivel for the deputy presidency, he will still be on the run in the party.

This time Samy had enough with his former deputy and vowed revenge against him for not staying out of the party elections.

The situation is clear, Samy Vellu had a firm grip over MIC for decades and he still wants to hold on it. Perhaps, he is vying for the party life presidency now.

In this case, MIC cannot reform and rejuvenate and you had seen the leaders of the rest of the BN component parties.

Umno is still with their racist tags and jargons of the 50s after 52 years running this country, PPP president Datuk M.Kayveas purged his reformist rising star Datuk T.Murugiah, Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon suspending his outspoken party vice president Huan Cheng Guan for 3 years, while MCA president Datuk Ong Tee Keat ousting his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek by sacking him from the party.

The rest, Sarawak's Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) president Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is going to stay on as chief minister as long as he lives, Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) president Tan Sri Dr George Chan is not making way for the young ones in his party and so does the rest in the BN fold.

The question is can BN component parties really reform while all those old and conservative leaders continue to cling on to their positions? Can these BN component parties reform while their outspoken leaders and reformist are purged and kicked out of the party and their positions taken away to prevent them an active role from within?

Certainly there will be no change at all if all these defiant conservative leaders stay on to their respective party positions. It shows that all these BN component parties cannot accept changes and reform despite knowing that they had been rejected and turned irrelevant after the 8 March general elections last year.

Therefore, for change to materialise in BN, no way! If you want real change and reform, leave the corrupt coalition and join Pakatan Rakyat. We are the real reformists.

Perak Umno rebel government sealed state secretariat

The Perak Umno rebel state government today sealed the entire state secretariat which also house the state legislative assembly building in their bid to prevent the state assemblymen and the Speaker from commencing the state assembly sitting as required by the Perak state constitution.

To strengthen its move, the Perak Umno rebel state government had called in the federal-backed security forces as well as their party supporters from all over the country. The Umno supporters was earlier spotted in an opposite site demonstrating against the Pakatan state assemblymen and supporters. Most of the Umno members are clad in yellow shouted slogans supporting their rebel leader Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and denouncing the legitimate Pakatan-led state government.

As the state assemblymen and the Speaker was disallowed entry into the state legislative assembly building by security forces personnel and Umno supporters, the Speaker had no choice but to convene the state assembly sitting at Heritage Hotel in Ipoh and passed motions to condemn the acts of Umno state assemblymen, defectors and imposed fines onto those who involved in the last 7 May fracas which saw the Speaker V.Sivakumar was forcibly pulled from his chambers and locked up in an undisclosed room.

Apart from being forced out violently from his chair, Sivakumar was also prevented from discharging his duties as the state Speaker. He was then replaced by the rebel-appointed R.Ganesan before the 7 May state assembly sitting commence.

The sitting today approved a decision by its rights and privileges committee to arrest and jail for six months the rebel Speaker Ganesan and his deputy Hee Yit Foong for their active role in the said fracas. The two were also fined RM500,000 by the state assembly.

The rebel state government was established by Perak Umno last February following their coup d'etat which saw the Pakatan state government being toppled. The Umno rebels had since refused to back down despite mounted pressure from the public to dissolve the state legislative assembly to pave way for a fresh state elections for fear of being rejected by the people again.

Rumours of a Selangor 'coup' unleashes pre-emptive moves

Rumours about a BN-Umno engineered Selangor coup are making the rounds among political circle and Pakatan leaders are not taking it sitting down.

This is certainly a well-planned coup attempt by BN-Umno same as the one they did it on Perak on last February. Well, we hope that the Selangor Pakatan leadership will plan its strike back before it is too late.

Learn from the experience that Perak Pakatan had undergone. The BN-Umno had the MACC and various security apparatus to support their coup attempt. The Selangor Pakatan need to sit down together to come up with their next course of action rather than to deal with petty political squabbles amongst PKR, DAP and PAS.

Remember, the Umno president Najib Razak had pledged to retake Selangor at any cost and if he is serious about this, he will do it at any cost, by riots, by force or any ways he wants, even the armed forces tanks might be send in to topple the state government.

Therefore, we hope the Selangor Pakatan will start doing their homework before it is too late. Be extra careful and maintain your alert at any possibilities. These Umno people are really uncivilised and they could resort to anything if they want.

BN versus BN

With both MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and Sarawak People’s Democratic Party (SPDP) treasurer-general Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing who is also the BN Backbenchers Club president openly at loggerheads now over the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) irregularities, it is Barisan Nasional versus BN now.

The MCA president who is also transport minister lodged a police report recently against Tiong over the latter’s allegation that he had given RM10 million to Tee Keat to support MCA’s divisional spending.

According to Tiong he had donated RM10 million to the MCA president last year after he was requested to do so by Tee Keat. The money was also alleged to have been paid in cash in three stages during a meeting between the two men at Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur respectively.
Both Tiong and Tee Keat are now exposing one another about their previous ties, relationship, friendship and their deals as well.

When Tee Keat pledged to tell all about the PKFZ scandal which caused the massive losses in billions of Ringgit, the core player of the project Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB) of which Tiong is also the chief executive officer was frequently mentioned as part of the scandal.

Tiong who is the CEO of KDSB is definitely very hot up against Tee Keat by now for making KDSB a scapegoat to this scandal. Due to this, Tiong decided to expose and tell all about his deals with MCA previously which may in turn affect the credibility of Tee Keat as both MCA president and transport minister.

Apart from the RM10 million claim that help to strengthen MCA, Tiong’s deputy CEO in KDSB had also claimed that Tee Keat had also used his personal air transport several times to travel to certain locations.

In this case, will the MACC be interested in having this case probed and bring those who are responsible to justice? Maybe MACC is only interested in cases that involve only a few hundred Ringgit and cases that are fabricated against opposition party leaders and members.

Even though the PKFZ scandal cost the BN federal government about RM12 billion in losses, it is merely a BN case and the MACC would not take its initiative to intensify its investigation on those wrongdoers and prefer to investigate non-existence cases involving opposition parties.

In this event, the MACC cannot even demonstrate its effectiveness and professionalism as claimed by MACC officials all this while. It only serves the purpose and interest of their political master, Umno.

And since this scandal involves corruptions practically, why didn’t the Port Klang Authority (PKA) lodge their report with MACC against KDSB but instead did its report at the police commercial crime investigation department?

Well, even the PKA did not trust the MACC now as they knew that organization is merely an Umno’s political tool. That is why PKA preferred the police commercial crimes investigation department to investigate the case.

In conclusion, both Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing should resign from their positions respectively as these two men’s reputation has been tarnished politically and ethically by their own doings.

But we could see these two men are not brave enough to face the facts. Can they face the people and the voters then?

Umno youth leaders to undergo military training

According to the MalaysianInsider report on 9 Aug recently, Umno will be making arrangements to send all its youth leaders including its youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin to undergo military training. The training module would be a commando-type.

Umno vice president and defense minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is the core person taking charge of this program in his capacity in the defense ministry.

Well, what was the political motive of providing military training to all these Umno youth leaders? According to some source, the aim of this training is to establish a party militia force in order to provide security and political intelligence to the top party leadership. Apart from that, the said militia force would also be tasked to protect the party’s interest.

This remind us on how Chancellor Adolf Hitler build his Nazi Party’s militia and security unit into a large military force called Sturmabteilung (SA) and the Waffen-SS (SS) which nearly posed a threat to the German regular army, called the Wehrmacht.

The SA forces took up the role of auxiliary police force in Germany while the SS became a party military force consist of group, divisions, regiments, battalions and company levels which was equivalent to the regular army.

During Hitler’s reign over Germany and all over Europe, the SA and SS were widely used to organize ethnic cleansing, wiping out local resistance and create fear amongst the people over its rule and the Nazi empire.

Besides, the SA and SS were also used in Germany itself to curb local opposition against the regime and to put down the German resistance who aimed to assassinate Hitler and topple the Nazi administration.

So, with Umno youth leaders undergoing military and commando trainings, what is the current direction of the party now? To remain in power forever by force! We had seen the experience in Europe during Hitler’s era.

Dartuk Rais internet filter plan

We wish to express our grave disappointment over the BN federal government’s plan to filter control the flow of blogging and internet news portals. These actions are greatly undemocratic and dictatorial in human rights aspect.

What the information, cultural and heritage minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim planned to do for the BN clearly shows that the BN-Umno coalition had totally conceived defeat. They wanted their mainstream media to continue monopolize the information flow to the public. They wanted all information to the public to be censored to ensure BN and Umno continue to stay in power for as long as they want.

Besides, the BN also intend to filter the internet in order to severe the communications between the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and the people as a whole. The problem they should think is, are they able to do that?

The BN-Umno coalition government did not want the truth to be channeled to the people. They knew that it was because of our bloggers who spread to the public the truth about BN and Umno’s wrongdoings, corruptions and power abuse, they lost badly in the last general elections.

We also welcome a BN component party member, Gerakan who openly protest plans to censor the internet and hope they will not go backward just because of Umno’s pressure. Gerakan had earlier stated its intention to join the Anti ISA rally on 1 August but pulled out in the last minute due to pressure from their BN dominant party Umno who voiced their dissatisfaction over Gerakan’s non-BN move.

Look, even in the BN fold there are no practical democracy at all. All BN component parties do not even have they rights to express their opinions or voice their criticisms over certain issues of public importance. They are required to respect and support whatever decisions made and determined by the dominant force of the coalition, Umno without any questions or say in opinions.

MIC politicising Buah Pala to cover up Maika

The MIC and its party president Samy Vellu had failed to protect the interest of our fellow Malaysian Indians for decades.

It has been almost 30 years now ever since our Malaysian Indian friends had invested heavily in Maika Holdings Berhad with high hopes that their profits and investments will reap one day. Unfortunately, what have they got today? Nothing at all! The Maika’s businesses and ventures has been a total failure all these years which cost all the shareholders and investors funds and monies.

Where did the monies of all these poor investors gone to? What has Samy Vellu done about this to settle their grievances after all these years, when he was a powerful minister in the federal government? Well, he did nothing the Malaysian Indians but only cares for his wealth and his pocket.

Samy Vellu boastfully said that the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng can settle the Kampung Buah Pala issue with only a stroke of his signature in his capacity but as MIC president he cannot even settle the Maika scandal after all these years.

This shows that Samy had admitted his guilt and his inability as well, but he still insist and wanted to stay on to power as MIC president eventhough he had lost his Sungai Siput parliamentary seat and his ministerial position after the previous general elections.

Now, when the Kampung Buah Pala issue turned sour, MIC politicized it and tried to become a superhero rushing over there to defend the affected residents, but they never being able to do anything at all.

The real question is, where were all those MIC leaders, and what have they done to prevent this from happening when the previous Penang Gerakan-led Barisan state government approved and sold the land to the developer. Why are these MIC leaders keeping so quiet and cowardly run away just like that?

Therefore, no matter what the MIC has been doing right now, the party had become irrelevant and cannot be reformed anymore.

Settle Maika missing funds first, MIC told

The MIC president S.Samy Vellu and his son, Maika Holdings Bhd chief executive officer S.V.Pari have yet to give their explanations to Indian community who are also investors and shareholders over the mishandling of Maika’s investments and its funds.

The Indian community had been waiting for generations for Maika to answer their questions which were left unanswered for decades.

Samy Vellu and son, you had taken away all the hard earned money of the Indian community and did not return them despite many such requests to do so. If there are any MIC leaders ho had question the Maika missing funds, you just shut them off or sack them from the party in order to cover up the theft.

You told the party members and the Indian community that you are in firm control and no one can challenge or question you authority. Now you had lost your ministerial position and the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat and you still want to cling on to the party president’s position. Shame on you!

The position of party president does not belong to you. If you want to continue hanging on to the position, then amend the party constitution by creating a new position of party life president so that you can lead the party until you pass away one day.

Samy Vellu and MIC ought to settle the Maika Holdings case first. Do not interfere in the Kampung Buah Pala matter as you are not fit to do so. You are no longer the legitimate representative of the Indian community and so does the MIC of yours.

The Malaysian Indian community of today still lacks behind in all fields and sectors just because MIC only cares for the elite Indian leaders and its top business associates. MIC failed to assist and address the poor and needy ones and for decades they had suffered so much until they could not bare it anymore and thus, the crime rate increased.

Then Umno and the police force put all the blame on the community, got Kugan killed while in detention, got Sujatha poisoned maybe because she had some information leading to Maika’s case and so on.

Do not blame anyone else but MIC who had created a group of political warlords amongst their elites to take control of the equities of the Indian community but not benefiting the others who are not part of them.

Therefore, Samy Vellu and MIC cannot speak on behalf of the Indian community anymore as all of you are not fit to do so. You and the MIC only represent the “golongan bangsawan India”.

If you claim that you represent the Indian community, then why are there so many Indian based parties today? Why did the Indian Progressive Front (IPF), Malaysian United Indian Party (MUIP), Makkal Sakti Party (MSP), Human Rights Party (HRP), Malaysian Indian Democratic Action Force (Mindraf), Kongres India Muslim Malaysia (Kimma) and the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) emerge in the middle of the community? Are you able to explain all these in detail? We are certain that you cannot.

Just leave the affairs of the Indian community to PKR, DAP, the PAS Indian Supporters Club and the Sri Murugan Center to deal with, and stop claiming that you are legally representing the Malaysian Indians. You are not at all.

MIC is only for the elites and not for the ordinary folks like us. Do not interfere in the Kampung Buah Pala matter anymore. Stay away and do not create anymore trouble.

Putting our angers and frustrations into People’s Power

This month July 2009, our entire nation is shocked, irritated, disappointed, ashamed and angry. We demand for straight answers, we wanted to know what and why it happened.

An innocent young man was murdered, a young lady who was supposed to get married has been widowed, an unborn child has been made fatherless and denied his father and a family has been traumatized and handicapped.

We Malaysians want to know the truth and motives that lead to this tragic moment and have all those who are involved in this murder to face the court of law and justice.

Unfortunately, the BN federal government have yet to commence its probe onto the young man’s death openly and transparent. It had already shown signs of failure and its insincerity towards resolving this case.

A magistrate level court has been assigned to conduct an inquest on the death, while the royal commission will be established to only look into the investigative methods and process of the MACC.

These shows tat the BN federal government is not serious in wanting to solve this case with transparency and to serve justice. By having two different entities to investigate two kinds of situation shows that the BN federal government wanted to break up the chain of links between the MACC and the young man’s death.

In the end the results and findings of these two investigative bodies will also be in conflict since the magistrate inquest and the royal commission goes by their separate ways and means to conduct their inquiries.

By then, can you or are we able to see the effectiveness of these two investigation that will sum up their results and findings that will lead to the arrest of those murderers and be brought to justice.

Pakatan Rakyat is not manipulating, provoking and politicizing this issue as claimed by Umno. It is the duty of all members of Pakatan Rakyat to come out to help whoever or any other persons whom they saw being treated in an unjust or inhumane way to seek justice.

It was Umno and its wholly-owned press who are trying to manipulate this case into racial tension by publishing articles supporting the death of the victim, condemning those who came forward to seek justice, it was Umno who is trying to use race sentiments to create unrest and use it to their advantage.

If the magistrate inquest and the royal commission really prove to be ineffective, al of us will be very disappointed, ashamed, and angry but this does not mean we will hit back physically and protest in a violent manner as did Umno all this while.
We are all matured enough to think, analyze, and to make our decisions and judgments, then translate it into votes at the ballot boxes in our next 13th general elections which will be held in three years time. We are very patient and can wait and when the time comes we will remember what the BN had done to our people.

We will participate in the People’s Power to show this BN dictatorship that we already had enough of their nonsense.

Plot hatched to topple State Government

Currently rumored around in the Selangor state are allegations that most of the state executive councilors of Pakatan Rakyat are endured in a corrupt practice to swindle state funds and allocation for personal use.

As the result, the MACC efficiently stepped in and round up the entire Selangor state government for questioning. In the middle of the interrogation, one of the state government officials was being found murdered at the Selangor MACC headquarters.

Then a blog surfaced recently claiming that the named state Exco members were part of the corrupt group of high ranking state officials that had murdered Teo Beng Hock in their effort to cover up the alleged activities.

Allegations after allegations, it seems that some parties out are trying to hatch a systematic plot to topple the state government and to take over the administration by force or violence means by inciting wild allegations and pressure against the current state government which is run by Pakatan Rakyat.

The police did nothing while the MACC is doing their best to discredit the state government, while the federal government which is still under the BN pulled its strings from behind scene. It is a very clear and open secret that the BN federal government is gearing up its plot to take over the industrialized state from Pakatan Rakyat after their successful coup d’etat that toppled the Perak state government last February.

It is a very clear fact that the BN-led federal government had wanted to avenge Pakatan Rakyat over their 8 March 2008 general elections grave defeat last year by seeking all kinds of ways and means to destabilize the Pakatan-rule state governments which lead to the collapse of the Pakatan enclave in Perak.

Besides Perak, the BN is also eyeing to destabilize two industrialize states namely Selangor and Penang, where Selangor is currently being targeted for alleged corrupt activities and Penang being embroiled in a minor racial tension following an attempt by an Umno-linked developer to evict and demolish an Indian based traditional village on an acquired land to make way for a mega project which was previously approved by the then BN Gerakan-led state government.

Apart from that, Umno is also pushing hard on Gerakan to launch a large scale assault and allegation against the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng alleging that he is corrupted and rented a high price residence to make way for a “renovation” of his evacuated official residence Seri Mutiara.

BN had every resource, like the police, the MACC, the military, the judiciary, the intelligence apparatus, the mainstream media and whatever powers they got to engineer their plans to discredit, destabilize and to topple the Pakatan state government if they want to.

But what did the Pakatan Rakyat have? Only the support from the people and our conscience! Pakatan Rakyat had in fact nothing to defend themselves against any onslaught or coup attempt from the BN all-mighty powers.

Therefore, Pakatan Rakyat leaders from PKR, DAP and PAS need sit together to take on a bigger role by establishing a security force of their own.

Why two inquiries for probe Teo’s death?

According to the BN cabinet decision, two types of inquiry would be established to probe the death of Teo Beng Hock who was found murdered in the MACC building last week.

A royal commission (RC) would be formed and assigned to find out MACC’s investigation methods while a magistrate’s inquest (MI) would be tasked to investigate the cause of Teo’s death.

First of all why would the BN federal government to establish two separate bodies to investigate this case? What was the actual motive of doing this? The BN federal government did not give any reasons on their decision to separately conduct the investigation on MACC and into Teo’s death.

Perhaps the BN federal government did not want to embarrass themselves (who earlier initiated the upgrade the entity of the MACC) and the MACC as well. And that is why they did not want an RC to probe the MACC directly on Teo’s death. So, they just appoint an inquest at magistrate level to conduct the investigation.

We are certain that once the RC and MI start their assignments, some of their reports and finding would be conflicting in a way and fact that these two entities conduct their investigations separately. And when their reports and findings are conflicting, how is the federal government going to make their decisions and what kind of action will they take as well as to base on who’s report in order to sum up their next course of action?

Just because there are two separate RC and MI to partially probe into Teo’s death, we are most certain that these two bodies would be ineffective and powerless to determine any actions on the culprits and those who are involve in Teo’s murder. And when these two entities are powerless and ineffective to come out with their solutions, then the BN federal government would step in to have their final say which of course would be in the interest of the MACC and not totally a just and fair one for Teo’s family, fiancée and our people.

Therefore, there are no clear directions and targets for both the RC and MI to begin and achieve because the responsibilities and the subject matter has been separately assigned. Is this the intention of the BN federal government that the MACC investigation method and Teo’s death would not be linked and if these two are not linked, how are they going to determine the cause of Teo’s death?

In the end, will BN say he committed suicide or he accidentally fell off while walking near the window? The question here is not only Teo’s death, because they are also others who had suffered and died while being detained or investigated before this.

We want justice and empowerment of human rights to ensure such power abuse would not repeat anymore. The problem is can BN provide us justice and human rights?

Report lodged against Guan Eng at MACC Penang

We heard in disgust that the Penang Gerakan youth led by its state vice-chairman H’ng Khoon Leng had lodged a report at MACC against our Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng when he had refused H’ng’s demand to reveal issues related to his rented house after he moved out of Seri Mutiara which has been infested by termites.

Guan Eng was right that these Gerakan youth leaders are acting like kindergarten kids. In fact, we would say these Gerakan youth leaders are mere hypocrites. They claimed that they are here to fight corruptions, to uphold justice and to be a constructive opposition in the state.

The Penang Gerakan youth leaders are making a fool of themselves about this matter. Have they looked at their own political master clearly so far? Umno leaders had stolen and played with our people’s billions of Ringgit in public funds, staying and enjoying their lifestyles in costly bungalows and mansions built with their ill-gotten money.

Are these Gerakan youth leaders so blind until they could not see all these power abuses within the BN coalition? Or they are merely keeping quiet about Umno’s misdeeds and wrong in order to protect their money and wealth too? There is also another reason, Gerakan is afraid of Umno’s ketuananhood and supremacy.

Whenever they are any expose which are affecting Umno, Gerakan would be called in to act as an agent to divert our people’s attention on Umno’s crimes and power abuses by making a hell of fuss and noise in the Penang state government and our Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Because Gerakan is still performing its slavery dutifully for Umno and helping them to advance its supremacy, Gerakan will be dead for good in Penang. Gerakan and BN will never ever again be able to return to power in Penang.

Gerakan will become like PPP soon, a mosquito party still day dreaming of regaining Penang in the next general elections.

A tragic death of democracy

The special assistant to a Selangor state executive councillor, Teo Beng Hock’s death caused by MACC is tragically outrageous and the democracy of our nation is now at stake.

The MACC (Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission) had lost all its credibility and the trust of our people and they had also brought shame to our nation. Despite its new entity and upgrade recently, the MACC still practices selective political persecution by working closely with Umno to target and destroy democracy, justice, freedom and equality.

In fact MACC had also became a component member of the Barisan Nasional (BN) answerable only to the Umno top leaders and not the parliament who earlier enacted an Act to established the anti graft commission.

We, the people are watching all over you now. MACC had in fact demonstrated its one-sided policies by practicing selective persecution against members of Pakatan Rakyat for the so-called “abuses” claimed by Umno while corruptions of Umno leaders, ministers and officials are simply ignored and swept right under the carpet for good. This is a total cover-up. Why? Because MACC is part of the BN coalition at the federal level.

While the real culprits (Umno leaders, ministers and officials) are enjoying their lifestyles in big mansions and palaces from the money that they had stolen from our people, our socio-people oriented Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives are often being targeted as they are guilty criminals or terrorists.

With Beng Hock’s death caused by the MACC, we should say that there should be no more trust onto them anymore, no matter what sort of reasons they intend to give or had already given. MACC cannot avoid and run away from the people.

MACC used the taxpayers’ money to advance the interest and the political will of Umno in order to counter the rising popularity and influence of the recently emerged Pakatan Rakyat coalition of opposition parties (PKR, DAP and PAS).

Umno cannot do it by itself via a democratic ways and means and that is why they are using the judiciary, police, military and MACC to curb democracy, justice, equality and limit our freedom as well.

Umno and BN had committed a mass genocide against our people and the nation as a whole. And if we don’t vote them out, they are going to turn our entire nation into a battleground with civil unrest one day.

So, remember, Vote Them Out in the next general elections.

NTV7 host given a warning over Najib’s scorecard

We learned in disgust that the Point of View program host for ntv7 Florence Looi was unreasonably given a warning letter just because she seeks a score opinion for Najib’s first 100 days as a prime minister which was rated C and D by guests invited to her program for their views.

The two guests who were invited to the talk show are writer Syed Akhbar Ali and The Malaysian Insider consultant editor Leslie Lau who later gave scores of C and D to the Najib administration.

There you are another one of Najib’s 1Malaysia concept. Freedom of speech and opinion are being censored in such way. Is this part of Najib’s 1Malaysia plan to further curb democracy and views of our people?

We believe that most of the media centers and companies in this country are being forced to act on directives from the higher authorities so that their business licenses and permits are not withdrawn or revoked.

Therefore, staffs of these media centers and companies are always reminded to sing words of praise and worships to the BN government leaders. The BN government is still in a denial mode. They cannot accept truth, criticisms, including constructive ones even if it is a fact and such actions are deemed absurd, childish and it clearly reflects on the immaturity of the BN government leaders, particularly from those of Umno’s.

All the while, BN and Umno cannot and will never take criticisms sportingly in order to correct and improve from all those negative views and comments. BN and Umno always emphasize that they are on the top and their policies and methods are always correct. The people must follow their directive even if they do not like it.

This is Umno’s supremacist policies and our country is on its way to dictatorship. With BN and Umno continuing its governance, Malaysia is moving backward and not forward.

Gerakan making a crack out of CM’s rented house

The Penang Gerakan is making a hell of noise over Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s departure from his official residence Seri Mutiara and his subsequent shifting into a rented house.

Guan Eng’s departure from his official residence, reasoned that the white ants had infested the entire building and it would not be save for the chief minister to continue staying in the said residence.

Then Guan Eng moved into a rented house to await repairs to be carried out on his government residence. Is that wrong? What are the elements of corruption as claimed by the Penang Gerakan leaders and where is your evidence which led to this “corrupt practice” which you all had mentioned.

We wish to remind Gerakan, of all the years of their rule in Penang, why didn’t they root out the corruptions and wrongdoings of their political master Umno? These Umno leaders are hundred times more corrupt then anyone else in this country.

In fact the entire BN coalition is corrupt. Gerakan, like Umno is also still in denial mode. They cannot see what are the wrongs and negatives in themselves but would rather make unpleasant statements and remarks on others.

Gerakan, as been over a decade being part of the corrupt institution, BN, Umno and its governance and therefore, they are not fit to talk about anti-corruption, transparency or accountability.

Gerakan needs to clean its own backyard first!

Kg Buah Pala : Tsu Koon should come out to resolve the crisis

The Khir Toyo scandal, corruption and power abuse

First, the Istana Zakaria of former Port Klang state assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Md Deros and now another palatial palace of former Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo just surface a few days ago.

After Dr Mohd Khir, who else? We are certainly sure that the rest of the Umno leaders do also own such palaces. These are the results of businesses, contracts, favours and rewards that they had received during their tenure in offices respectively.

Looks like these Umno leaders are fond of wealth and building palaces and mansions here and there to tell the people of their extensive wealth and powers they possess.

So what did the other BN component parties like MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBB, SUPP, PBS, SPDP, Upko, LDP and PBRS have to say? Well, they said nothing and all seems to be keeping quiet about the power abuses of their leading component party, Umno. This is because Umno owns a ketuananship that other BN component parties do not enjoy.

But when our Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng left the termite infested official residence, Seri Mutiara to move into a state subsidized rented bungalow, all the BN component parties are making the hell of noise saying that Guan Eng is wasting public funds by renting a bungalow and not wanting to stay in Seri Mutiara anymore.

So, who cause the Seri Mutiara to be infested with termites? Shall we say Gerakan and MCA as they were the members of the previous state government in Penang? Is Gerakan or MCA trying to say that Guan Eng had abused his powers by moving into a bungalow from Seri Mutiara? They wanted Guan Eng to continue staying in Seri Mutiara until it collapse one day and injure him and his family members.

What do MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBB, SUPP, PBS, SPDP, Upko, LDP and PBRS have to say about their political master Umno who spend billions of Ringgit in building and constructing palaces and mansions for their top leaders and divisional chairmen? Are those leaders in MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBB, SUPP, PBS, SPDP, Upko, LDP and PBRS too blind to see all those wrong doings committed by Umno leaders?

Therefore, we urge MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBB, SUPP, PBS, SPDP, Upko, LDP and PBRS not to be so hypocrite and look at the mess in the BN coalition first before they talk about leaders and governments of Pakatan Rakyat.

In fact, the leaders of MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBB, SUPP, PBS, SPDP, Upko, LDP and PBRS are not fit to talk about competency, accountability and transparency or whatever KPI because they are already part of the dirty dozens in the BN fold.

Kg Buah Pala: Gerakan ran into hiding

Come on Gerakan, you started the Kampung Buah Pala crisis and you are now running away, washing off your hands just like that.

Gerakan, please remember, no matter how much you wash your hands or how far you run to hide yourselves, our people will come after you all. In order to cover up your previous bad deeds, you are now capitalizing on the entire situation by blaming the Penang DAP-led state government for its failure to help those affected residents who will be evicted by an Umno-link property developer soon.

Where is Senator Dr Koh Tsu Koon, the former Penang chief minister who is now the minister in the prime minister’s department in the BN federal government! Do not think that you could escape from the people by staying in Kuala Lumpur to become a minister.

Prior to the Gerakan president’s defeat in the last general elections, Dr Koh as the then chief minister of Penang had purposely approved the sale of the Kampung Buah Pala land to a politically link property developer without even a single thought of the welfare of the people over there.

And recently the prime minister Najib Razak had also announced that they will not assist the residents of Kampung Buah Pala and no funds will be channeled to the affected residents because this is not a national issue. So once Najib said this, Dr Koh and his Gerakan party will think that they are now safe.

Our people are saddened and gravely disappointed that those who had contributed towards the destruction of Kampung Buah Pala is now claiming to be champions of the people and causing a lot of instability in the Penang state. Besides, some Umno are also believed to be helping Gerakan make this issue into a racial one so they could further capitalize on the situation.

By the way, is Umno trying to launch another coup d’etat here in Penang by stirring up racial tensions in this disputed village? Who knows their plans are ongoing.

Therfore, Pakatan Rakyat need to beef up their state security or else you may end up like your counterparts in Perak.

1Malaysia, a BN political ploy

1Malaysia, 1Malaysia is mentioned everywhere now. The federal government under the BN-Umno is now working round the clock every second to ensure that our people are one hundred percent brainwashed into adopting this idea which is seen as a mere political ploy by Umno to cover up their defeat, weaknesses and their racist chauvinistic political strategies.

Just right behind 1Malaysia campaign, BN-Umno is organising a major offensive in Pakatan rule states by clearly encouraging 2Kelantan, 2Kedah, 2 Penang and 2 Selangor policies. Their 2Perak offensive has been successful where the Pakatan state government was overthrown by an Umno-sponsored coup d'etat on early February this year.

Let us look at their 2Kelantan, 2Kedah, 2 Penang and 2 Selangor policies right now. In order to rival the Pakatan state governments, the BN established a Federal Development Department (Jabatan Pembangunan Persekutuan) in each of these states with a state director taking charge of each of the states. A kindly of "de-facto state government" if you study the BN's intention carefully.

Then down below, the BN also established rival entities to challenge the state appointed offices like the Penghulu which are state appointed, is rival by a Penghulu Persekutuan. That means each of these areas are now having two Penghulus, one is a state while the other is a federal appointed.

Then we go down to Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK) which is also under the states' jurisdiction are now being rivaled by BN's federal appointed Federal Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKP). That means all those kampungs and pekans in the Pakatan rule states now have two kinds of JKKKs administering the respective areas.

What is the BN-Umno trying to prove actually? Wasting public funds and monies to by creating all these additional positions and paying them with allowances just like that? Does the Federal Development Department (Jabatan Pembangunan Persekutuan), Penghulu Persekutuan and the JKKKP really have any legal statures to rival the states and areas?

This is a very big No! The establishment of Federal Development Department (Jabatan Pembangunan Persekutuan), Penghulu Persekutuan and the JKKKP are totally against the state constitutions because these positions are de-facto ones and they did not have any legal means to establish at all. These entities are just like the current Perak rebel state government established by Umno in aftermath of their coup d'etat.

Therefore, BN's 1Malaysia is only a ploy to distract our people from their real plans behind which is aimed to split our people, to create disunity, disharmony and to confuse the entire nation.

BN and Umno are the ones who are anti-establishments.

Pakatan states ought to have own security force

In aftermath of the 8 March general elections last year, DAP, PKR and PAS came together to established a coalition named Pakatan Rakyat to govern five states namely Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan which they won over in the said poll.

It was most unfortunate that after the five Pakatan state governments started functioning, the federal government which is still dominated by Umno but without the two thirds majority in the parliament, started and continues its political offensive nationwide against Pakatan in order to curb their rising influence and popularity amongst our people.

Security forces under the jurisdiction of the home ministry were widely being used and mobilized nationwide by Umno to watch and control the increasing activities of Pakatan component parties via restrictions, banning of ceramahs, withdrawal of earlier permits given, massive arrest of supporters, issuing threats and so on.

Besides, Umno s also trying to win back the hearts of the Malay community by stirring up racial sentiments and tensions, promoting hatred and creating chaos in a number of Pakatan rule states.

First, a massive illegal rally was organized by Umno in Penang to protest against plans outlined by the DAP-led state government to implement an open tender system which encourages competency, accountability and transparency. The new state government policy was apparently being twisted by Umno to sound like the DAP had came out with an anti-Malay policy in order to stir the anger of the Malays residing in the state. The police did nothing and did not bother to disperse the illegal rally because it was organized by Umno and it did not have a permit to assemble. The Penang state government however, tolerated the rally with much patient and managed to explain to the people on its new policies. In this case, Umno’s first coup attempt failed in Penang because the overall Malay community did not support the provocative move.

Then, Umno pursued further, this time created havoc and racial tensions in Selangor by alleging that a state executive councilor had instigated the people to protest against two mosques’ azans. As a result the state executive councilor was detained by the Umno inspired police force and put under a so-called ISA detention for few weeks where her whereabouts was kept secret. The state executive councilor was an innocent lady who knew nothing of the intended protest against the mosques’ azan. It was an Umno leader by the name of Dr Mohd Khir Toyo who had stirred up the racial and religious tension in hope that there will be a riot in the state thus allowing the federal government to declare an emergency rule in the state and to have the military called in to take over the state administration from the Pakatan state government. In this case, Umno’s second coup attempt failed in Selangor as the people of the state had fully rallied behind the Pakatan-led state government.

Third, the then Penang Umno Bukit Bendera division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail again stirred up racial tension in Penang by calling the Malaysian Chinese as Squaters and Temporary Residents of this country. It resulted to massive protest from various Chinese guides and associations and even Umno’s coalition partners in the BN like MCA and Gerakan sounded their protests heavily on their political master and Datuk Ahmad’s racist statement.

Due to this, journalist Tan Hoon Cheng who had reported what Datuk Ahmad said was made a scapegoat and she was unreasonably arrested and detained under the ISA for nothing. The real culprit, Datuk Ahmad escaped justice because he is a prominent Umno leader and closely link to the prime minister.

Not enough with Hoon Cheng’s ISA detention, Umno leaders in Penang ran wild and even called for the journalist to be executed by shooting because she reported the truth. We could remember that Penang Umno secretary Datuk Azhar Ibrahim personally called Hoon Cheng to be killed because she exposed Umno’s racist activities. And the police did nothing despite police reports were lodged by DAP, Gerakan, MCA and other Chinese community leaders. The police could not take action against these Umno racist due to the fact of the supremacist position that Umno leaders enjoyed in this country. This is really frustrating.

In Perak, the Umno leaders successfully engineered a coup d’etat that toppled the Pakatan state government after they enticed two of its state executive councilors and the state assembly deputy speaker to jump ship.

In aftermath of the rebellion, Umno established a rebel state government to take over the state administration from the Pakatan side. The Umno rebel government also used its newly acquired powers to seal off the Perak state legislative assembly building to prevent the state assembly from convening its meeting thus, resulting to the sitting held under a tree outside the state legislative building.

Police and paramilitary personnel were dispatched in number of regiments and battalions to prevent Pakatan leaders from entering the state legislative assembly building and the state secretariat. Apart from that the Umno-led security forces had also surrounded the Sultan’s palace in Kuala Kangsar in order to prevent any Pakatan leaders from seeking an audience with his royal highness to explain the actual situation.

Then, later the Pakatan’s Perak state assembly speaker was ousted in another coup d’etat engineered by Umno in an unconstitutional manner and he was replaced by a strange man who was not even a state assemblyman. And when the speaker tried to resist his coup plotters, the Umno rebels called in their security force and have him forcefully removed and dragged out from his chambers and locked in a dark room for few hours before he was released. These security men did not act professionally nor constitutionally but rather politically pro-Umno against the Pakatan state government leaders in order to maintain their livelihood.

These policemen really had no choice. They are all under the jurisdiction of the home ministry whose minister is a vice president of Umno, the dominant party of the BN coalition. And if they resist their political masters, what will they get in return? Everyone knows.

From here, you could clearly see that even though Pakatan Rakyat is governing some states that they had won right now, they are completely defenseless against the mighty institutions of the Umno dominated federal government like the police force, the military, paramilitary forces, prisons department, judiciary, MACC and the mainstream medias like RTM, TV3, NTV7, Radios, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, NSTP, the Star, etc.

It is very clear that the Pakatan state government had nothing to defend themselves against any onslaughts from the Umno-led federal government and their powerful institutions. What if Umno decides one day that they had enough with all the Pakatan state governments, and decides to declare a state of emergency in these states to forcefully take over the governance of these states with the police and military forces mobilized into action on their behalf?

What can the Pakatan state governments do then? Just sit there and watch their administrations being toppled like that? Are there any other choice? Mobilize their supporters and members to protest against the Umno dominated police and military forces? This would not help much as it may somehow result to bloodshed or massive death among our people if Umno decides to offensively crackdown on Pakatan Rakyat.

Therefore, it is extremely important that the Pakatan Rakyat leaders should seriously consider this option to establish their own security force within their institution and we stress that a Pakatan-led security force is essential to create a balance of power with the Umno-led security forces which can be seen today in its effort to crackdown the activities and influences of our Pakatan state governments and to ensure the stability, security and the safety of their people are maintained in the respective states.

Take Perak by example, Selangor and Kedah might be next. You have to take up this option.

Bad taste in mouth at DAP dinners

In Malaysiakini report, it stated that the police action in breaking up recent DAP dinner functions has got the organisers riled up and slammed the cops for denying them their right to free speech as enshined in the constitution.

First of all, what is wrong with the police and the home ministry? Are they trying to curb the influence of DAP and the other Pakatan Rakyat parties?

It looks like the police force has been Umnonised by the BN-Umno to serve their own interest. No wonder the crime rates are high up today just because the entire force has been mobilised for Umno's sole political agenda.

That is why we really need the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to oversea such power abuses carried out by Umno and its BN component parties.

Written Judgment missing

The Appeal Court had on 22 May gave a verbal judgment confirming that Perak rebel leader Dr Zambry Abd Kadir was the rightful menteri besar of Perak thus, overruled an earlier decision made by the High Court declaring that Datuk Seri Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin was the lawful menteri besar of the Perak.

Well, the situation now is getting tense, Datuk Nizar wanted to file an appeal against the Appeal Court's decision but the Appeal Court judges had yet to finalise their written judgment which they made on 22 May verbally. Why are these judges delaying their judgments in writting? Did they really know how to write their judgment?

Or is this a sabotage effort from someone at the top instructing those judges to delay the written judgment so Datuk Nizar would not be able to file a proper and detail appeal against the judgment?

The Appeal Court had earlier promised that they will provide the written judgment within seven days from the date of the judgment day, that is 22 May but to-date nothing has been issued to Datuk Nizar so far.

And now Datuk Nizar is faced with the ending of the 30 day deadline to file an appeal to the Federal Court just because of the purposely delayed written judgment from the Appeal Court.

This is a very clear act of attempt to sabotage Datuk Nizar's effort to file an appeal against the Appeal Court's decision.

PAS wants DAP, PKR in unity talks

Malaysiakini reports that PAS told Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that it will hold unity talks with Umno only if PKR and DAP are included in the talks.

The statement was released by PAS Secretary-General Datuk Mustafa Ali today.

We view Mustafa's state as PAS' positive move to ensure the spirit of comradeship within the Pakatan Rakyat coalition is maintained and whenever any issues or matters in relation with a component party with another outside the coalition must be brought up and consulted amongst component parties.

A good start for the new PAS secretary-general for his move to ensure the unity in Pakatan Rakyat is preserved.

However, PAS must be very careful that any talks of "unity" offered by the BN-Umno coalition must be carefully reviewed and studied. It may be a trap set by them in order to break up the Pakatan Rakyat's coalition.

A grave distortion of the constitution

Malaysiakini reports that the decision by the five members of the Federal court who declared that the Elections Commission has the power to over-rule the Speaker is nonsensical.

In this case, the powers of the Speaker be it Dewan Rakyat or State Assembly will be overruled by EC on what cause ? What kind of analysis will the EC able to determine if the decisions they had made did not contravene with the one made by the Speaker ? Who is actually running the state legislative assembly or parliament now ? The EC or the Speaker ?

The EC current comes under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Department and where the chairman of the EC reports directly to the Prime Minister Najib Razak. From the basic establishment it has already made known that a conflict of interest had in fact exist in this relationship.

In fact, the EC should be put answerable to the parliament instead of the Prime Minister's Department in order to affirm its neutrality stance in the eyes of the public.

And now the Federal court ruled that EC could interfere in the Speaker's decision. Is this part of the democratic process ? What if a state ruled by an opposition front and EC is not happy with it and decided to call for a fresh election if the federal government want to do so ?

BN-Umno is using the Federal court to rule on its favour in order to provide more powers to EC to act on its behalf. These actions are undemocratic and unconstitutional. It is reaching towards the dictatorship path.

PKFZ scandal, PAC useless

The key persons in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal which cost the BN-led federal government millions of Ringgit in losses will not be hauled up for enquiry.

Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik and Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy have to take full responsibilities and answer to all Malaysians for the failure of the PKFZ project which saw a great wastage of public funds in millions of Ringgit unnecessarily.

It does not mean if persons with titles of Tun or Tan Sri shall be immune from all prosecutions and court of laws. If they are wrong and proven guilty, they should be hauled up and punished accordingly.

The current parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which is chaired by a BN cabinet minister Datuk Azmi Khalid is a useless entity as the chairman is too powerful and one-sided. The members of the PAC in majority had wanted both Tun Dr Ling and Tan Sri Chan to be summoned before the PAC hearing to testify on the PKFZ scandal but Datuk Azmi with his wide powers as PAC chairman overruled the PAC majority by refusing to summon the two former MCA leaders.

Besides Tun Dr Ling and Tan Sri Chan, the others were former Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairman Datuk Chor Chee Heung who is now a deputy finance minister in Najib’s government and former PKFZ general manager Datik Paduka O.C.Phang.

Well, since the BN-led federal government had made the PAC a redundant entity and exist only by name, let us see if the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) would haul up all these PKFZ key persons who are responsible for the PKFZ losses and failures.

From this point, we could clearly see that the taxpayers’ hard earned money varnished just like that. This is completely disgusting and injustice. We all worked so hard every day to earn that money and remit our tax to the government and these people just took all those money away into their pockets.

We want to ask Najib, if all these hanky-panky continue, what is the use of your “People First” and “Performance Now” slogans that you are promoting? They are completely useless and baseless as it is a mere cover up, we supposed.

Every time whenever a new BN prime minister is installed a new slogan will be introduced to the people based on his new leadership but did the new administration really initiate any changes or improvements? The answer is a no. it is a mere window dressing in order to “reform” an old order into a new one. Only rebranding has been carried out and not reform.

After PKFZ scandal, there will be another PKFZ-type debacle to come very soon as long as BN is still around. The future of our country under the BN rulers is at stake and the risk will continue to be at its highest level.

RM4.1 million facility for Mat Rempits

We were recently informed that the Terengganu Umno state government intends to build a race circuit to facilitate the so-called Mat Rempits to race in the track, so that they could upgrade and improve their skills and stunts.

And that race circuit will cost about RM4.1 million. The state government is already out of their mind. Spending public funds to build a facility just to cater these criminal gangs to polish their skills and stunts.

Just what kind of state government is this anyway? Wasting the people's money to entertain the greeds of these criminals or are they trying to use all those public funds to feed the Umno contractors? Who knows !

First you got your Sultan Mizan Stadium shake up and collapsed and now you are supporting these gang of road criminals.

Hidden crisis in the BN fold

As we all know, whenever Pakatan Rakyat component parties are practicing their democracy from within and expressing their different thoughts and views respectively in public, the Barisan Nasional (BN) particularly Umno is quick to take advantage on the situation by saying that the opposition alliance is in brink of collapsing.

Why did they do that? Because they wanted to divert the people’s attention from their massive internal bickering in both BN and Umno itself. Umno’s factional infighting intensified with most of its reform minded leaders were either being sidelined or sacked from the party. Of course we all remember that Datuk Zaid Ibrahim was sacked from the party for his outspoken and reformist views.

MCA’s team A led by Datuk Ong Tee Keat (party president) is giving no way to the party’s team B which is led by Dr Chua Soi Lek (deputy president). Efforts by both factions to outdo each other are beginning to hurt the party very much from within. Both factions are also uploading their canons to be fired at each other whenever there are opportunities to do so.

MIC’s supreme leader, Datuk Samy Vellu had successfully kicked out his potential challenger Datuk M.Muthupalianappan in the recent party elections, while PPP’s Datuk M.Kayveas kicked out his suspected presidential rival Datuk T.Murugiah, accusing him of money politics.

Gerakan’s outspoken party vice president Huan Cheng Guan is on his way for expulsion after being issued a show-cause letter for his lashing on the party’s central leadership. Looks like party president Dr Koh Tsu Koon is not going to give way and he is now working towards a collective decision from the party central committee to have Huan expelled from the party.

It seems that most of the BN component parties are facing the similar problems. All potential rivals or reform minded leaders from within are systematically curbed or eliminated to prevent any challenges to the present conservative leaderships in those component parties.

It is a clear fact that BN is operating like a secret society, where its component parties are trying to cover up their own weaknesses or divert the people’s attention to other politicized issues. It is a waste that all those young leaders in the BN are not groomed and appreciated at all. They were merely tools being used by their party elders to seek support from the young voters.

Most of the leaders of these BN component parties are resisting every effort to reform and change of which will definitely see their powers and stature being affected. And if these happens, those party elders are set to lose all their positions and powers they had long enjoyed for decades.

Then when the press or newspapers are trying to check for information regards on their internal feuds, they are quick to maintain that their respective parties are still united and strong as before. They are covering their open secrets which are already known by the people, hoping to avoid any embarrassment or being scrutinized by the people or voters.

Nizar to appeal against judgment

Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin is look set to file an appeal against the Appeals Court’s ruling on last May declaring Perak rebel leader Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir as the rightful menteri besar of Perak.

The problem that Datuk Seri Nizar would be facing right now is, he has yet to obtain the written judgment made on 11 May by the Appeals Court judges who presided the hearing and ruled in favour of Dr Zambry. The judgment was in fact made verbally.

Where is the written judgment then? What take those judges so long to prepare and write down their judgment of the day? Do these judges in the Appeals Court know how to write their judgments?

Or are they waiting for Datuk V.K.Lingam to help them draft their judgments? Is there a motive to delay the written judgment so that Datuk Seri Nizar would have a difficult time in filing a proper appeal against the said judgment? We supposed it could be a sabotage going on to prevent Datuk Seri Nizar from obtaining a proper court hearing for his appeal against the ruling.

Umno and its Perak rebel state government is trying every effort to manipulate the court in order to rule in their favour and against the constitution and the people as well.

The current administration in Perak is now being run by the rebels who seized power in an Umno-sponsored coup d’etat last February and it is not an elected state government as they proclaimed. It is a rebel state government run by Umno and their lackeys from MCA, MIC, Gerakan and PPP

Mustafa: Stop all talks on unity gov't

Malaysiakini reports PAS elections director Mustafa Ali today urged all his party leaders to stop issuing confusing statements relating to unity talks with Umno.

We view his statement to be positive move and he had contributed in maintaining the unity amongst Pakatan Rakyat component parties.

As such, we also would like to urge all parties to refrain from making anymore statements which would eventually affect the current stature of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

We also urge all Pakatan Rakyat component party leaders to brainstorm their current policies and the recent statements they had made in their upcoming Leadership Council meeting.

Do remember, BN-Umno would take this opportunity to manipulate the entire situation to our disadvantage and we need to be very careful of our current political security.

BN component parties in crisis

In aftermath of the general elections last year several Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties had came down with severe problems, tussles and crisis which are affecting the credibility BN coalitionas a whole.

Umno, the major and leading component party of the BN coalition is downed with intense bickering and infighting as well as factional disputes involving its leaders in Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu tussling with each other to hold on to their respective positions. As the result, most of its state leaders were replaced by party national leaders who are not even from the states concerned, thus making these parachuted new state leaders difficult to understand the needs of the local Umno leaders and members.

Perlis started its sword fighting when the then long-serving menteri besar was suddenly replaced by a politically unknown after the general elections. In Kelantan, factional tussles are clearly shown in public with not much success of calming the situation which is getting worst. In Terengganu, the long-serving menteri besar was also abruptly replaced by a relatively unknown low-key politician after the last general elections.

And now, the situation in Terengganu is expected to go on from bad to worst. State Umno leaders and their state assemblymen issued threats to harm each other over their differences and tussles. The ten Umno assemblymen even boycotted the state assembly proceeding earlier citing “security” reasons for doing so.

If situation turns worst, a no-confidence vote or possibility of a Perak style coup d’etat is expected to take place in an attempt to overthrow the current menteri besar who is from the same party.

In MCA, the party’s president Datuk Ong Tee Keat and his deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek continue to tussle in public in order t outdo each other and had since made clear of their factional rivalry. Datuk Ong is not going to compromise or give way and so does Dr Chua himself.

In MIC, old guards under the leadership of Samy Vellu continue to hold firmly on the party, resisting any attempt to change or reform the party and preventing young bloods from taking over. Any potential rivals or future opponents are swiftly identified and crushed in order to curb their influences.

Gerakan, with Dr Koh Tsu Koon now at helm as party president faces a big challenge now trying to hold the party together after its massive defeat and their Penang base tumbled in last year’s general elections. Most of its prominent leaders had since left the party for Pakatan Rakyat component parties or went into “semi retirement”. The latest headline recently is the party’s vice president Huan Cheng Guan had given an indication that he too will soon leave the party citing dissatisfaction and non-reform of the party’s top leadership.

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is embroiled into yet another leadership crisis after decades of factional struggle with both Datuk M.Kayveas and Datuk T.Murugiah claiming the party presidency and now with two party presidents and two supreme councils at helm. The Registrar of Socities (ROS) is also going after the PPP leaders for their failure to submit their annual returns and accounts of several years.

The soon to be BN new component party, Indian Progressive Front (IPF) is also embroiled into leadership crisis, following the death of its founder president Tan Sri MG Pandithan. The initial faction currently presided by the wife of the late president while the other faction was lead by a rival leader who claimed to have support from branches and divisions that made him an acting party president. Both rival factions in IPF are expected to hold their party elections in order to “legalize” their claims to the respective positions and their rival supreme councils as well. Will IPF be able to make it into the BN fold then?

Looks like the BN is beginning to disintegrating from within, starting from the very top Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP and then ………….all will fall apart.

If BN still resist change and did not want any reform, let it be. We already had an alternative now. Let us not waste our time and get on with it.

Gerakan leader to quit party soon

Gerakan vice president Huan Cheng Guan is expected to leave the party soon citing disillusionment with the Gerakan’s top leadership for refusing to heed the lesson of its defeat in Penang to Pakatan Rakyat during the general elections last year.

Besides, Huan also confirmed that, if he leaves, he will bring along about 5000 party members to join his departure. Huan, who lost the Bukit Tambun state seat to DAP in the last general elections said he was considering joining another political party but did not name of the party that he is eyeing for.

It looks like Gerakan is beginning to lose all its prominent leaders. Last year, party deputy secretary-general Lee Kah Choon quit the party to join the Penang state government’s investment arm, while former Penang Gerakan vice chairman Dr Toh Kin Woon quited the party to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and former Gerakan wanita chief Rhina Bhar left the party citing that the party was swaying from its original struggle and her disappointment with the party’s top leadership.

Gerakan’s Federal Territory state liaison committee chairman Dr Tan Kee Kwong also resigned from the party last year to join PKR and later took up a position with the Selangor state government.

PKR's Mansor won with 5,558 majority

For over the past few weeks, we had heard a lots of comments on Ong Boon Hua @ Chin Peng, the secretary-general of the now defuct Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) who wanted to return to his homeland called Malaysia.

Many supported the idea on his intended return and many also did not. For those who supported his return to our nation are merely on humanitarian grounds. And for those who are against his return, were those who had said the war and cruelty he caused during the emergency from 1948 to 1960 is unforgettable and remorseful.

Then the information, cultural and heritage minister Datuk Rais Yatim who is also an Umno supreme council member, came out aggressively and attacked those who supported Chin Peng’s return as an attempt to revive communism. And so does all the Umno leaders and the party’s controlled media, mainly the Utusan Malaysia and RTM. Looks like the BN-Umno led federal government had made out a racial overtone in their anti-Chin Peng campaign to make sure this little old man dies in exile.

BN-Umno reasoned that Chin Peng’s war atrocities are too much to allow his return to Malaysia. His application for return to our nation cannot be justified due to his previous led CPM insurgency. We think the BN-Umno leadership is trying to manipulate the history side of this man and his party who also once fought the British colonialism and the Japanese occupation. We must also remember that Chin Peng and the CPM did really contribute a little more than Umno in fighting for the Malayan independence.

Let us not argue so much, and take a look back the history of our independence struggle. We hope Umno will not turn this tide into a racial tension in order to gain some political mileage. What Datuk Rais and the rest of the Umno leaders said on the Chin Peng issue is very much demonstrating their fear and worries of losing their political battle of which there are set to lose now, due to their declining influence.

If there are attempt to revive communism, why didn’t the BN-Umno federal government break its diplomatic relationship with PR China (who once actively supported and armed CPM’s insurgency), DPR Korea (North), SR Vietnam, Lao PDR and Cuba? But instead encouraged the advancement of diplomatic and economic activities with all these socialist and communist countries?

We all remember the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Empire of Japan’s Imperial Army and Navy during from the 1930s to 1945. We all remember what the Japanese did to us during their occupation in Malaya and the rest of the countries in Southeast Asia, Asia Pacific, North Asia and their brutal attack on the US Pacific Fleet Command base in Pearl Habour. Chin Peng and the CPM fought those invading Japanese imperial force bravely and most of them sacrificed and died defending their homeland called Malaya at that time from Japanese invasion and atrocities. Had ever Umno or BN exist at that time to defend Malaya during the war?

And the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Empire of Japan’s Imperial Army and Navy during from the 1930s to 1945 are far more worst than what Chin Peng and CPM did to Malaya from 1948 to 1960. Yet the BN-Umno federal government decided to forgive the Japanese for what they had did to our forefathers and welcomed them into our nation with their expertise and technologies. Even the Americans too forgave them and they are now allied to them politically and militarily

Therefore, if BN-Umno federal government forgave the Japanese for their past war crimes and atrocities that they had committed on our forefathers, does that mean BN-Umno had embraced and supported what the Japanese had did during the Second World War? If this is what BN-Umno had earlier mean, those who supported Chin Peng’s return are showing signs of an attempt to revive communism.

As such, we can also say that BN-Umno’s acceptance to the Japanese business and technological establishment in our nation is a sign of their attempt to revive and support the atrocities of the Japanese Imperial Army on our people.

From here, we could clearly see that there is a hidden motive in BN-Umno who is going all out making a big issue on Chin Peng and the revival of communism and we wonder if Chin Peng were a Malay, would their stand and emotions be the same?

You can judge how fair is BN-Umno in handling their racial matters. Their federal government, together with their wholly-owned press Utusan Malaysia are currently campaigning very hard to label Chin Peng as a “cruel” communist leader who should not be allowed to return the our country, while the other “cruel” communist leaders such as, CPM chairman Rashid Maidin and CPM central committee member Shamsiah Fakeh were allowed to return to their home in Malaysia earlier.

So, it does have to do with race and double standard practice. It is proven here and they cannot hide the facts. The BN-Umno is in fact far worst then the communist now, their administrations are full of evil, reigning with treachery, manipulation, power abuses, money politics, cronyism and corruptions.

Perak rebel state govt “legalized”

The court of appeal had on 22 May ruled that the Perak rebel leader Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and members of his rebel state government as the rightful state administration in Perak thus, out ruled the 11 May judgment made by the Kuala Lumpur High Court which recognized Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin and his state government as a legitimate one.

But the court of appeal’s decision is not expected to bring an end to the Perak constitutional crisis. The judgment made by the court of appeal had clearly ignored the state constitution as a whole, due to the fact that their decisions did not reflect their understanding on the provisions of the state constitution.

Besides, the decisions by the court of appeal on 22 May had sparked more unhappiness of the people on Umno and its BN federal coalition government. The people are already disgusted with the way Najib and his cronies had engineered the coup d’etat on last February which saw the legitimate state government being toppled in Perak.

And yet Dr Zambry shamelessly claimed that his rebel government is “elected” by the people. Perhaps, he is still day dreaming and definitely in a total denial mode. The rebel government led by Zambry came to power via coup d’etat and it was not elected by the people. The real fact is Zambry’s rebel government is elected by only three persons (who sat in the court of appeal).

The court of appeal’s decision also clearly shows that it is a pro-Umno institution and the people would see it as an instruction from the executive powers in Putrajaya to the top judiciary to decide on its favour. The people of Perak are gravely disappointed, upset and disgusted with the way Umno handle and ruin Perak.

Apart from that, the court of appeal’s ruling also suggested that the rulers now had even more powers than what it has been vested under the constitution. That means the constitution had been undermined and it is a useless document now. The dissolution of the Perak state assembly to pave way for a fresh election is urged by many people of Perak and their counterparts from other state as well. This is the only way and the best option to resolve the constitutional crisis.

We strongly believe that the people are the ones who should decide on who should rule and govern their state and not the court anymore. However, we all know Umno and its BN lackeys would not dare to a hold a fresh election because they knew that they will lose their power if they do so. That is why Umno and their BN lackeys are afraid and scared of going back to the people. They are now afraid and scared of the people’s verdict and they are hiding behind the court of appeal.

Those Umno leaders and politicians are really cowards entirely.

Oppressive laws restricting human liberties, freedom and justice

Since from day one, we were all given to understand that the Federal Constitution of our country called Malaysia is the highest instrument of law in our beloved nation.

As such, should any conflicts or misinterpretation arise in defining and implementing other sets of legislations and laws in our country, the Federal Constitution should therefore be referred to as a final tool in order to determine if those sets of legislations and laws goes by the relevant articles of the Federal Constitution.

Unfortunately our Federal Constitution which we thought is able to protect us has been undermined by these sets of legislations and laws. These sets of legislations and laws had all the time overruled the Federal Constitution in a lot of matters concerning human liberties, freedom and justice as well.

We are deeply concern that our highest instrumental of law (the Federal Constitution) would be sidelined very soon, as our nation is seeing its way to become a police or fascist state.

And when a police or fascist state takes its effective rule, these draconian legislations and laws shall therefore overrules the Federal Constitution completely. The Federal Constitution is on its way to suspension. Unless the entire situation differs to otherwise, the Federal Constitution of our country today will become redundant and useless, merely as a symbol or perhaps a history.

Let us review some of the articles of the Federal Constitution which are now being restricted by these sets of draconian legislations and laws which are deemed oppressive and restricting human liberties and our freedom.

Article 5 of the Federal Constitution confirms the liberty of any persons was restricted and oppressed by the Internal Security Act (ISA) 1960, Restricted Residence Enactment (Cap 39; Sec 117 Criminal Procedure Code Cap 6).

Article 6 which guarantees our people from slavery and forced labour was overpowered by Essential (Self-Reliance) Regulations 1975 and the National Service Ordinance, while Article 9 which states Protection against Banishment and Freedom of movement was overruled by the Internal Security Act (ISA) 1960, Banishment Act 1948 and Immigration Acts 1959 and 1963 respectively.

Article 10 (1)(a) which guarantees our Freedom of Speech and Expression is being overly restricted by Seditions Act 1948 (including amendments 1971), Official Secrets Act 1972 (including amendments 1986), Printing Presses and Publishing Act 1948 (including amendments 1988) and Control of Imported Publications Act 1959.

Article 10 (1)(b) which guarantees our Freedom of Peaceful Assembly was being bound by Public Order (Preservation) Ordinance 1958 and the Police Act 1967 (including amendments 1988). Article 10 (1)(c) which states our Freedom of Association was apprehended by the Trade Unions Act 1959 (including amendments of 1980 and 1989), Societies Act 1966 (including amendments 1981), University and University Colleges Act 1971 (including amendments 1975) – concerning Discipline of students rules and Discipline of staff rules.

Again Article 10 (1)(c) which states our Freedom of Association and our rights to Industrial Action including strike was effectively being prevented by Essential (Prohibition of Strikes and Prescribed Industrial Actions) Regulations 1965 and Industrial Relations Act 1967 (including amendments 1971 and 1975 respectively).

Article 121 which described the Principle of Judicial Review was harshly overruled and amended in 1988, followed by another amendment to the Internal Security Act in 1988, followed by another major revamp in 1989.

It is very clear fact that the BN-Umno federal government uses these draconian legislations and laws to curb and restrict the liberties and freedom of our people and at the same time restrict the rising influence of a the newly emerging opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat under the pretext of “national security”, according to them.

Such harsh legislations and laws had also instilled a culture of fear and worry among our people to such an extent that even they agreed they are living under a stressful condition similar to an authoritarian police, fascist state or military rule.

As the result, most of us are too afraid to voice our protest or express freely our opinions and thoughts. Most of us are also afraid of debating current issues and matters concerning the well-being our beloved nation and the way it is being run with.

So, does our Federal Constitution protect our people effectively and how powerful is our country’s highest instrumental of law in standing against all these draconian legislations and laws?

So long as the BN-Umno still rules the country, our Federal Constitution shall remain in a shamefully disrespect manner.

DAP MP, state rep arrested at candlelight vigil

Malaysiakini yesterday reported that DAP MP Teo Nie Ching and state assemblyman Jenice Lee plus nine others were arrested at a vigil to 'mourn the death of democracy'.

The vigil was organised peacefully in front of Selangor State Executive Councillor Teresa Kok's service centre. Why are they arrested? Is the Umno dominated police force seeking to avenge their defeat and their losing popularity? What wrong had all these innocent people done?

Why didn't the police arrest leaders and members of Umno who are out there terrorising the people with their threats and racist activities?

Crimes in our country is getting worst and the police are not doing their actual job to curb such negative elements but instead helping Umno to curb the rising political influence of PKR, DAP and PAS just because Umno themselves are losing out.

Khir Toyo suspended one year

Malaysiakini reports that the Selangor assembly's rights and privileges committee has suspended opposition leader Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for 12 months from the House yesterday for ignoring an inquiry set up by the Speaker to hear his wrong doings and misued of public funds.

Apart from his suspension, Khir Toyo's allowances as a state assemblyman were also frozen for insulting the committee and the House continuously.

He said he will challenge his suspension. What challenge is he going to mount? Call in the police, FRU and the military to forcefully evict the state assembly Speaker from office like what his party had done it in Perak? He is demonstrating his supremacist ideas and characters again.

Khir Toyo should admit his guilt and "bertaubat" on all his previous wrongdoings and power abuses during his reign as the menteri besar.

Speaker vs Speaker - Round 2

Malaysiakini reports that ousted speaker V Sivakumar is seeking a court injunction against BN-installed speaker R Ganesan from obstructing him in exercising his duties.

We hope Sivakumar would proceed with his application for a court injunction as soon as possible without delay to prevent the illegally installed rebel speaker from discharging his duties unconstitutionally.

As a legitimate speaker, Sivakumar was ousted by an unclear and improper vote of no-confidence against him before the Raja Muda of Perak officially opens the state assembly sitting. That means Sivakumar was illegally removed before the state assembly commence its sitting.

Looks like the Umno rebels who had launched a third coup d'etat on 7 May last week mistakenly toppled Sivakumar before the state assembly sitting commence, where in actual fact a vote of no-confidence should only be carried out during the state assembly proceedings.

It shows that the Umno rebels also had not confident with their recently self proclaimed majority and had to rely solely on undemocratic, unconstitutional and violent measures to forcefully remove Sivakumar from his position.

Earlier reports also indicated that an Umno man even brought a gun into the state assembly for standby in case if Sivakumar is too strong to be manhandled. Such an act is so violent and Sivakumar may end up being killed if he persist further.

What if Sivakumar got killed? Umno will make history for itself. A bloody coup d'etat perhaps.

The ball is in sultan's court

Malaysiakini reports that public pressure is once again on the Perak sultan to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly to break the three-month-long political impasse.

And we believe and hope that the sultan will make an accurate and correct decision this time to dissolve the state assembly as soon as possible in order to pave way for another state elections. Let the people decide on who should govern the state.

Umno would try every ways and means to avoid a state elections as they are afraid the people would once again reject them, like on 8 March 2008 last year. Umno is afraid of losing for the second time.

Some unconfirm source also indicate that the Perak rebel leader Dr Zambry Abd Kadir might declare a state of emergency in order to curb the people's pressure as well as the Pakatan Rakyat's popularity via military presence and curfew. Will Dr Zambry do that anyway?

And if Zambry does, what will happen to Perak then?

Call for Snap Elections in Perak

As we had seen the political and constitutional crisis turned from bad to worst, following the coup d'etat and power seizure by a terrorist organisation called Umno.

When Umno toppled the state government on last February, they installed their rebel state government and its rebel leader Dr Zambry Abd Kadir becames the menteri besar of the illegal administration.

After the Kuala Lumpur High Court declared Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin as the lawful menteri besar, Dr Zambry fearing of losing his position quickly obtain another court order to have himself back to office the next day.

More and more people both from inside and outside of Perak are calling for snap election as the situation is worsening because of Umno's continuous onslaught. Even MCA and Gerakan are now getting fed up with their supreme master and had started demanding that Umno should "let go" and hold a fresh election in order to obtain the people's mandate.

But Umno seems to refusing advice even from its BN component parties. They knew they will lose badly this time if a snap election is called, and that is why they wanted to cling on to power even if by illegal ways or means. At then end, should situation worsens, Umno might even resort to violence in order to subdue the electorate and the people.

What now? Its all up to the Sultan and Raja Muda of Perak.

Court rules Nizar is legitimate MB

Malaysiakini ~ In a landmark decision yesterday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has declared that BN-Umno's Zambry is not the lawful MB and Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin as the sole legitimate Menteri Besar of Perak.

Justice has been served. The rebel state government under its rebel menteri besar Dr Zambry Abd Kadir must vacate their offices immediately.

Furthermore, the legitimate state government which was put back to power yesterday must act tough on those state civil servants who had collaborated with the rebels to topple the state government.

Suspending the state secretary, state legal advisor and the state assembly secretary aren't enough. These rebel collaborators should in fact be expelled from the state administration with immediate effect.

There is no point of keeping these people in the state government anymore if do not wish to work or cooperate with the state leaders. Keeping them in their positions by just suspending them is just waste of time, money and public funds.

Sack them all, and get a replacement in as soon as possible in order to get things done.

More candle vigil should be organized

To commemorate the darkest ever experience in our democracy, justice, freedom and equality, we should organize as many candle vigil as possible in order to create more awareness amongst our people and community.

Let us all realize that we are doing this in a peaceful and harmless manner and those who had already organized the candle vigil are not violent people or criminals as what the police had claimed. Candle vigil is indeed a peaceful forum aimed to support our brothers and sisters who had been simply arrested and thrown into prisons and tortured just to serve the interest of Umno.

From now on, Umno had marked a lot of black happenings in our nation with most of their shameless and violent acts. We feel ashamed that our country is being ruled and dominated by the racist and fascist based Umno. They are now threatening our entire nation with imprisonment, oppressive laws, concentration camps and ISA.

We wish to inform them that we will not bow out or run away. We will stand still with our strongest ever will to fight on in order to preserve our beloved nation from being destroyed by the oppressing racist and fascist rulers.

Third coup d’etat in Perak, beginning of dictatorship

As we had all knew the third coup d’etat in Perak had already happened. Umno again launched the coup to completely seize control of the entire government machinery in Perak by ousting the State Assembly Speaker V.Sivakumar via force and fist.

Now, Perak Umno is in complete control of the state and had established an effective dictatorship. Unconstitutional and undemocratic measures were taken to continue curbing the rising influence of the Pakatan Rakyat by making mass arrest of human rights activist, politicians, elected representatives, NGO leaders in order to prevent the truth from being channel to the people and the grassroots.

Despite being ousted, we still considered our V.Sivakumar the legitimate Speaker of the Perak State Assembly. He is the father of Perak Democracy and the pillar of Perakians struggle for Democracy. In fact, Sivakumar had shown a great courage in standing against the combined mighty forces of the federal government, the corrupt royalties, and the Umno dominated police and security forces.

Sivakumar had held on, demonstrating a will of steel and he still held on despite being physically abused and removed from the Speaker’s chair by many Umno henchmen. We understand that Sivakumar is also slightly injured due to the struggle to remove him but we advise him not to worry and continue wearing those physical scars dutifully in the name of democracy, freedom, justice and equality. Sivakumar will be remembered as the defender of Perak democracy until the 13th general election.

Let us all not recognize the Umno dictatorship in Perak. Their administration is illegal because their power was obtained via power seizure by illegitimate means. The current administration in the state is call the Perak Umno Rebel State Government or in Malay language “Kerajaan Pemberontak Umno Negeri Perak”. This is a clear fact Umno now administers the state via a rebel state government, as it was not elected by the people. The governance that Umno obtained today was by coup d’etat. Umno toppled a legitimate state government and proclaimed themselves into power by force.

And did you know Tan Sri Musa Hassan, the head of the Umno dominated police force said few days ago that they do not have enough police personnel to combat crimes in our entire nation. Guess what?

They had assembled thousands of their police personnel from other parts of the nation in Perak to serve the interest of Umno in the state, to install the Umno rebel state government, to assist the coup d’etat to take place in Perak and to assist in toppling the elected state government in Perak. The police personnel had in fact being majorly concentrated in political affairs rather than combating crimes. That is why crimes in our nation are on the rise.

The police are not interested in combating the crimes in our nation but they are only interested in furthering the interest of Umno because their party leader is the minister of home affairs in the Umno-dominated federal government.

From February until now, the way the power seizure was organized showed that the Umno state assemblymen and their leaders are no better than highway robbers or “mat rempits”. Can this kind of political animals be lawmakers for our people? It would be a real joke.

7 May shall be best remembered as a definite OneBlackMalaysia indeed. Innocent people are simply thrown into prison and threatened for nothing else but to further the interest of Umno. Well, after all Umno is above the law and the constitution. With their “ketuanan” and supremacist power, they are able to do whatever they want and even the police cannot question their privilege and powers. Very soon, with Umno still at helm, our nation will turn into a lawless nation and it had just started in Perak.

Therefore, we urge Pakatan Rakyat state governments of Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Kelantan, beware! Umno may launch a coup d’etat to topple your administrations too. They had done it in Perak and they will do so in your states.

Democracy in our nation had been degraded. Let us seek aid from the international community to scrutinize our federal government and check the imbalances, injustice and irregularities experienced by our people here.

Black 7 May in Perak

Yesterday was the darkest ever chapter in Perak and we are sure all our fellow Perakians also felt ashamed of what had happened in their state. First our legitimate state government has been overthrown, then our democratic platform i.e. the state legislative assembly building has been sealed off and our state assemblymen were prevented from any sitting, and now our legitimately elected Speaker has been violently removed from his position.

All these undemocratic, unprincipled, unconstitutional and barbaric acts were carried out by none other than the United Malays National Organization or better known as Umno. They toppled a state government elected by the people and established a rebel state government to administer the state with an iron fist. All opposition to the rebel administration has been curbed with mass arrest of Pakatan Rakyat leaders and elected representatives to prevent them from channeling the truth to our people.

With the backing from the federal security forces, the Umno-led rebel state government had also censored all news reports which are deemed critical to their unlawful administration and established false news and reports in order to cheat the people and provide inaccurate information to the nation. They tried their very best to cover as many truth as possible.

The Umno-led rebel state government is now terrorizing the people in Perak, threatening them with arrest, charges under seditious law, penal codes, or even ISA so no one would dare voice their opposition or discontent towards the rebel administration.

The Umno-led rebel state government under rebel leader Dr Zambry Abd Kadir called the Pakatan Rakyat “biadap” during his press conference yesterday. We wish to respond to his statement by calling him and his lackeys “kurang ajar” and “banjingan” for their arrogance, violence, threats and their use of force against the will of our people.

We are not being rough towards anyone here, but we simply could not find any suitable word to describe these Umno men other than “kurang ajar” and “banjingan” because this is what they are. They had in fact already destroyed the entire democratic institution and the constitution of the state by launching a coup d’etat to topple the people’s state government elected on 8 March 2008. These Umno men were infact worst then animals and do not even fit to be apes as well. They are all inhuman because there are no sense of humanity in them.

Therefore, what did our dear friend Wong Chin Huat said “wear black” is accurately correct. Everyone of us should continue our silent protest by wearing black shirts, black t-shirts, black pants, black hats, black caps, black armbands or you can even raise a black flag to commemorate the death of democracy in Perak and the beginning of dictatorship in our beloved nation.

As long as Umno is still in power, Democracy Rest in Peace.

Perak 7 May sitting illegal

The Perak state assembly sitting which is scheduled on 7 May is deemed illegal because of three major reasons and if this session proceeds, then those Umno coup plotters are making a fool of the state constitution and the people of the state.

We wish to inform our fellow Perakians that the Perak state assembly sitting which is scheduled on 7 May is deemed illegal because: -

1) It was called by a Rebel State Government who seized power from the Legitimate State Government on last February.
2) The Speaker V.Sivakumar was not aware of the sitting, where in actual fact he should be the first person to be informed of the plan.
3) The signatory of notice to call for the state assembly sitting was suspended assembly secretary Abdullah Antung. Therefore, whatever documents signed by an official who is suspended from his position is considered null and void.

We urge our fellow Perakians to stand up steadfastly to protest and condemn these illegal, undemocratic and unconstitutional acts by Umno and its BN lackeys.

Zambry may use force

The Perak Umno-led rebel state government under the leadership of Dr Zambry Abd Kadir had planned to table a motion at the state assembly sitting scheduled on 7 May to oust Speaker V.Sivakumar from his seat and replace him with a member of the rebel coalition (BN).

As speaker, Sivakumar has the right to reject the motion as did the Dewan Rakyat speaker who often rejects motions table by our members of parliament.

The real concern here is, if Sivakumar decides to reject the motion by Dr Zambry to oust him, will the rebel menteri besar forcefully evict Sivakumar from his seat? There is certainly a possibility as much preparation has been made by Umno and its rebel state government to prepare for the event on 7 May.

The presence of the federal security force and police personnel had been doubled in all over major towns and cities in the state is a sign the rebel state government is determine to seize total control over the administration of the state ever since the Umno coup plotters overthrown the legitimate state government and sealed the state assembly building.

If the 7 May plan proceeds, this will be the third coup plot against a legitimate position of an official elected to serve the state. The first coup was launched to topple the legitimate state government and later Umno launched a second coup with the help of the police and security forces to confiscate and seal the state assembly building in order to prevent the state assemblymen from discharging their duties of the state.

And when the 7 May coup comes into action, is the rebel state government going to declare a state of emergency and detain all Pakatan Rakyat state leaders under the internal security act (ISA)? There is a possibility it might happen as the Umno coup plotters are now desperate and wanted to hold on to power despite mass protest from the people of the state.

By detaining all Pakatan Rakyat state leaders would also help them to curb the rising influence of the new coalition in order for Umno to tighten their grip in the state.

After being publicly criticized for rejecting the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM ) clenched fist logo, the Elections Commission (EC) had finally approve “in protest” the logo which they had earlier viewed as morally unsuitable and having connotations of violence.

This move is clearly political motivated and it really baffles us. This shows the stupidity and foolishness of the EC commissioners. They claim themselves to be neutral but in fact most of them are pro-Umno. They claim themselves to be an independent body but it is clear that, EC is under the Prime Minister’s Department and the EC chairman reports directly to the Prime Minister and not the Yang DiPertuan Agong.

What we knew all these while is Umno is one of the most violent political forces in our nation. Their party members speak of violence, bloodshed, threats onto other ethnicities and rule above the law. Their party logo is weapon called “keris” which could cause harm, injury and death to the public and create disorder in our nation.

Therefore, why not EC review Umno’s logo to check if it is morally unsuitable and having connotations of violence and if otherwise, let us know your reasonable facts.

More policemen in Perak state

According to the Perak police chief DCP Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah on 30 April last month, more policemen will hit the streets in the state with the focus on major towns in Ipoh, Manjung, Hilir Perak and Taiping.

What happened? Are all these based on the request by the rebel state government led by Umno to assist them to secure their position in the state? Or is it because of the Umno’s coup d’etat which toppled the legitimate state government last February had indeed caused the crime rate to increase in the state due to political disorder in the state created by them?

Well, there are a number of factors which contributed to the increase of the federal-backed security forces in the state. First, the expected illegal state assembly sitting scheduled on 7 May. Perak Umno leaders are expected to use force onto Speaker V.Sivakumar should he decides to reject the motion to oust him by rebel menteri besar Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. Some source said Sivakumar is likely to reject the motion to oust him and when this happen, Dr Zambry will call in the security personnel to force him out of office in order to place their lackey from MIC to the speaker’s seat.

This will be considered as Umno’s second coup against the people of Perak and a total insult to the state constitution. From the beginning of the constitutional crisis in the state since last February, we could clearly see that the state constitution had been lying uselessly in the files of the state, as Umno had used its ketuanan positionto overrule the effective law of the state.

Therefore, it is expected once Sivakumar is forced out of his Speaker’s seat via security eviction, Dr Zambry will place another motion at the state assembly to suspend the state constitution. In Umno’s case, the suspension of the state constitution is vital as the court judgment is expected to make some references to the state constitution pending its decision to ascertain if Dr Zambry is an illegal menteri besar.

So, once Dr Zambry successfully suspends the state constitution, Umno would be able to justify its case in the court as ruling the state in an emergency order because the state does not have a constitution in force when it is suspended.

As the political disorder created by Perak Umno continues, crime rates are also on the rise as the rebel state government is only currently focusing on how to secure its position in the state and the people are clearly being neglected. In fact the rebel state government had no time to pay any attention to the people and the welfare of the state as they are now afraid of losing its grip and power. They even ignored the people’s request to dissolve the state assembly to pave way for a fresh election in order to resolve the current political and constitutional crisis.

When the rebel state government is unable to handle the situation, they called in more policemen to handle the entire situation, at the same time gives them an advantage to secure their governing power in the state by harassing and threatening the state’s Pakatan Rakyat leaders whose state government was ousted in last February’s Umno sponsored coup d’etat.

If Umno keeps its grip illegally continuously on the state administration, the political situation in the state is not going to improve at all. The Umno “swine flu” is going to spread all over the state if they continue to be like this.

Perak rebels seeks to remove Sivakumar as Speaker

As expected, rebel menteri besar Zambry Kadir has sought to table a motion to remove Perak state legislative Speaker, V Sivakumar, at a May 7 assembly sitting he has called.

Abdullah Antong Sabri, the assembly secretary whom Sivakumar suspended for insubordination, signed and sent out the notices for the motion on Apr 27. Elected representatives were asked to submit their nominations for Sivakumar’s replacement by Apr 30.

However, Pakatan Rakyat was unfazed by the latest manoeuvre against Sivakumar. A DAP leader and the first ethnic Indian in the country to become a Speaker of a legislative body, Sivakumar has been a key force in helping the Pakatan resist the Umno-BN’s coup d'etat of the Perak state government.

“This is unusual and will be the first time such a move has been made in Malaysia,” said Perak DAP Secretary and Pantai Remis assemblyman Nga Kor Ming.

According to Nga, the Speaker had the right to reject or accept any motion, including one aimed at himself. He also lashed out at Zambry for using Sivakumar’s suspended secretary to issue the notices.

“This shows that they think they can do whatever they want. We will let the Speaker decide on the motion,” Nga said.

The Pantai Remis representative, who is also a prominent lawyer, warned that Zambry’s latest move was in contempt of the High Court, where there is still an ongoing lawsuit challenging Zambry’s legitimacy as Menteri Besar.

Pakatan leaders will also be meeting on Thursday to chart out their next course of action. Said Perak DAP Chairman and Sitiawan assemblyman Ngeh Koo Ham: “Since the notice is illegal and hence void, we will not be responding to it. It is just another piece of paper, floating around.”

Penanti poll on 31 May

The Penanti by-election will be held on 31 May , the prime minister's department's Election Commission (EC) announced yesterday morning. This time the EC had given up hope and decided to set the polling on Sunday.

Despite so many attempts by EC to reduce voter turnout to favour the BN-Umno rulers in the previous by-elections, voters turnout seems to be increasing and so does the majorities won by Pakatan Rakyat candidates.

This shows the voters are more determine nowadays to ensure changes in our nation.

Perak state assembly sitting on 7 May illegal

The state assembly sitting in Perak scheduled on 7 May next month which was called by the rebel menteri besar Dr Zambry Abd Kadir is deemed illegal because it did not adhere by the procedures of the state assembly and therefore, unconstitutional.

Besides, the Speaker V.Sivakumar was not even aware of the intended state assembly sitting which was planned by the rebel state government believed to be aimed at ousting him.

According to the Speaker’s newly appointed state assembly secretary Misbahhul Munir Masduki, the former state assembly secretary Abdullah Antung was suspended from his position because he had breached the procedures of the assembly by receiving an unconstitutional instruction from the rebel menteri besar to convene for the assembly sitting without the knowledge of the Speaker.

The call for the state assembly sitting should be made by the Speaker himself who will then instruct the assembly secretary to inform the Sultan for consent to convene the assembly sitting. Upon obtaining the consent from the Sultan, the Speaker will then issue the notices of invitation to all state assemblymen to attend the state assembly sitting.

The situation now is otherwise, the rebel menteri besar Dr Zambry Abd Kadir was making the call and instructed the former state assembly secretary Abdullah Antung to convene the sitting on his behalf, without even informing the Speaker. Since the Speaker was unaware of the sitting, who illegally signed the notices of invitation then? Did Dr Zambry himself sign it as “acting speaker”? Or Abdullah might have signed it by putting “bagi pihak Speaker”.

In this case, Dr Zambry illegally acted as a speaker, thus sidelining Sivakumar completely. The rebel menteri besar had in fact ignored the constitutional rights and powers of the Speaker and insulted the state constitution.

After proclaiming himself a menteri besar of the rebel state government, Dr Zambry now wanted to proclaim himself a speaker to chair the state assembly. Perak Umno is about to stage a second rebellion and coup d’etat against the state of Perak and its constitution.

Ketuanan Umno is now above the law, above the constitution, above the sultanate or they might even claim to be above Allah s.w.t. or God in near future.
